I place it in, what I'd call for lack of a better word, the hot mapped area, and then it takes a while to change to the expected function.

Ahh, you mean when moving the cursor over a note in the PRV, for example? This works instantly for me. Same software, different systems, different projects.

problem fixed...turned out i was using a flat screen tv as a second monitor and it was causing some kind of conflict...unplugged it and everything is just peachy now...gives me a good excuse to go out and get that widescreen monitor one of these days...

thx jim

and thx to all the forumites that chimed in...without these forums this would all be impossible for me to figger out

Edit:
ebabes beat me to it
X1a was not the fix.

Mike, what happens if you run a single monitor?
Do you still experience the same odd behavior with the mouse tools?

I'm running a single 28" monitor on my main DAW.
When I select any of the pre-defined draw curves, the draw tool craps out on me (just gone in the PRV).
The workaround is to go to the Track View and select the Smart Tool... then I can select/use any mouse tool in the PRV (still can't use the predefined draw curves).

Yes only 1 monitor, a Mitsubishi Diamondtron.

My guess is that I'm just wildly impatient and that many folks are satisfied with what I call sluggish.

I'd like it to swap as fast as when I used to hit "S", "D", "E" etc.

best regards,
mike

by the way i just discovered that by turning on the pc first and opening X1 and THEN powering up the second monitor (a 19" flat screen tv)...problem solved...back to two monitors...smart tool is still cool.    processors must have been arguing on start-up

and now i'm having a ball with dimension pro and the PRV

happy happy
