You might also want to check out VSTSynthFont64. http://www.synthfont.com/Downloads.html The UI is a bit confusing (to load a SF2 click the button in the middle top labeled File: SoundFont/ Giga / Etc .., not the Open button higher up, which loads one of its configs and not a SF2 file) then pick the patch using the next button over (Preset / Instrument). But it seems to do a decent job with supporting things you might want from a SF2 instrument. The VST instrument is free (I think the editor app is their commercial product).

Another relic that was unfortunately frozen in time. Loads sf2 and waves, but only up to 16 bit waves. Paid a hundred dollars for it, now it is abandonware and free. 32 bit only but elegant. All the above advice is solid and more up to date. Something else to play with that has all the critical functions. https://jeskola.net/xs1/

I personally use SampleLord: https://www.samplelord.com/ I've tried sforzando, but wasn't impressed. SampleLord has LOADS more options. The only downside it's 32 bit, but it's so efficient it hasn't been an issue for me. I bought it originally to use with my V-Machine (a seriously under-powered hardware VST player) for live use, which I believe it has special support for. Another one I use occasionally is DSK SF2 : http://www.dskmusic.com/dsk-sf2-v2/ which is free. Again it's 32 bit, but this one has portamento which is cool for some sounds. The issue with this one is it plays some soundfonts in mono. There's some extra panning information in the soundfont spec it relies on, and my soundfonts didn't have it. I did write a java program to fix the sf2 files, which if I can remember correctly might have fixed it, but it was 3-4 years ago. Anyhow, another 2 for you to try out. M.

+1 SampleLord was/is the king of soundfont players. I got the bundle with their excellent format converter which was also (IMO) unrivalled. The developer is a really talented fellow. It's too bad the market couldn't sustain his fantastic products.

Be nice if there were more 64bit options.

I like SafFron by FrettedSynth. Pretty comprehensive tool (I forget which SF formats it supports - most of them I think), can load for example 3 seperate soundfont and have them individually triggered by their own MIDI channels OR triggered altogether. Also has a load of built in effects and filters that are very useful. Really nice tool overall, it was a bit of a staple for me until I started working with other genres and doing more live recording.

I guess SF2 soundfonts are more of the 32bit era so its not surprising to find a lot of suggestions for older 32 bit software. I am pretty sure Kontakt can play soundfonts too, but unless there are some particular favourite SF2's you must have, Kontakt's factory library and various free libraries will probably render your SF2s obsolete.
