ORIGINAL: SlammyD I currently have a copy (my Friends) of Sonar 2XL installed on my pc. If I install Sonar 6 will I be able to open old projects in 6? 1. Rousseau (the person you replied to) is long gone. 2. You are not allowed to have a copy (my Friends) of Sonar 2XL installed on your PC. 3. The 'SONAR FAQ' is probably not the greatest place to post a question. You can try posting here -> http://forum.cakewalk.com/tt.asp?forumid=5 or you can search the forum for the answer to your question.

Using Sonar SE with the latest update. I have Core 2 Duo (Pentium 4) processors running on my computer at 2.13 GHz with 1 Gig of RAM. I have an Alesis IO/14 firewire coundcard, but I am using a separate Yamaha UX16 MIDI card (I like it). Here's my problem: I loaded up a click track loop (100% quantized) for a new song as a reference. The first thing I recorded was a MIDI keyboard part. The timing on the MIDI keyboard track is decent, but it looks (on the screen) like it is almost a 16th note behind the audio click track (bpm = 107). When I slide the whole click track faster in time to sync it up with the audio graphic (I am using the downbeat of a measure as a reference, then the MIDI part appears to be sync graphically -- but then it sounds too ahead of the beat. I think the issue is in Cakewalk -- not anything else. Why would it "sound" one way and "appear" another. When I used the MIDI track to generate audio and record, the recorded audio graphic appears to be cloe to the correct time. WAZ UP???

Yes, with audio snap, you can convert audio to midi and use that to trigger the soft synth. Cj

Did you thry the SFZ? It's a soundfontplayer (VST) included with Sonar. Add it using the synthrack and load the soundfont in it.

If using a softsynth, select the MIDI track and the softsynth track and then Edit-Bounce to Track or you can File-Export directly to a WAV file.

Just for readability sake, I wouldn't mind seeing the question's in the FAQ in bold. That way, someone can quickly scan down the list and just narrow in the questions. Just my .02 cents, though I think it's a killer FAQ. Keep up the good work!

Try the SONAR FAQ List on the SONAR User Wiki instead. The FAQ has been broken into more pieces based on topic, is more up-to-date than this forum FAQ, and already has the bolded questions like you want for readability.

Ran, I don't know what is causing that problem, but here's some things that might help you get a better (and quicker) answer: 1. Start a new thread (post) in the SONAR forum, not as a reply to this FAQ thread. Only people who are subscribed to this thread will most likely see this post. 2. Please post your computer and audio interface specs, as well as the exact version of SONAR you are using (6.1, 6.2, etc.).

I just bought this sonar home and it should be as easy as turning on my cassette recorder but it isnt. I followed the bonehead tutorial and this is what I got. I just want to record my guitar. I plug in the mic I push record in the two places and even am smart enough to get the metronome to work. BUT IT STOPS RECORDING AT RANDOM TIMES. Sometimes it will stop after 15 seconds, the next time it stops after 3, then after 13. THIS IS INSANE. PLEASE SAVE ME FROM SELF HARM! Peace Michael Any suggestions.
