MP3 Encoder

I have Cakewalk SONAR Producer 6.0 and today I went to export a track I recorded and it is asking me to update or purchase a encoder. I have been using this software for over a year with no issues and the encoder has always worked fine. If I have to upgrade I cannot find the link to do so, If I have to buy a new encoder, fine, which one should I buy so that it works with SONAR 6?

Thanks for any help

Do a search for "mp3 encoder" on this forum. Or see the thread here. If you haven't purchased the Cakewalk encoder, it's not that expensive, and it works well. LAME is an alternative (see the above link).

I bought the MP3 encoder update for Sonar 6P off of the Cakewalk store in December. I think it was $19.00. My copy of 6P never had encoder.

Then re-install the encoder and it should work again. Did you at anytime re-install Sonar?

If you purchased the encoder, then you should have the encoder software to re-install it.

    Peace

There is a thread here in these forums about using the LAME MP3 encoder. I don't know why anyone would buy something when it's free. Instructions on how to install are in the same thread.

    Good luck.

PS, maybe I'm crazy, but when I installed 6 and 7, there was an MP3 export function available. At least in MY version!! Perhaps it was dumb luck because I found out I couldn't export MP3's when I was listening to an MP3 I just exported . . .

I think the MP3 encoder is good for 30 days. Then it gets disabled until you pony up.

If all else fails, download and install CWENC. It's free and it functions just as well as the one you paid for.
