Midi recording question

In Sonar is there a way to make the midi clip the size of the looped section. For instance in Sonar if I start recording at bar 1 and stop at bar 5, I want the clip to be the exact same size which would be 4 bars. However in Sonar by default the clip is only the size of the notes played. So if I hit my first not at bar 2 and my last at bar 4 the clip would only be two bars long so I would then have to slip edit to make it the complete 4 bar length. Understand, is there a way to change this action.

Initially insert a note in prv at measure 1 beat 1 and then edit it out after. That should give you a clean starting point.

Select the clip, press Alt+Enter, and change the length.

or just slip edit the clip to the desired length... that's a couple of clicks, and you're done. I do this quite often.

The obvious reason for the clip being shorter is that it's not audio... for example, even when no audio is being played, audio is being recorded. With MIDI, if there is no data, you can't record "silence" like with audio. So Sonar will just crop the ends to clean things up around each clip.

OK but naturally the reason I ask is because in every other program I have used or demoed it adjusts the midi clips length to the nearest next bar. So this is what I am used to so I was hoping the was an option to make this. I am only demoing Sonar but I figured I could slip edit as I stated in my post but I would hate to have to slip edit left, slip edit right and then make the clip loop everytime. The few Sonar users I talk to a lot keep telling me it really is audio only for them. Thanks.
