Looks like the "Audiophile" edition doesn't get the discount unless you already have an Audiophile version? Its feature is "Uncompressed WAV files for ALL RealTracks & and RealDrums". What format are the realtracks and realdrums in, if not WAV format in the EverythingPAK?

I appreciate what BB tries to do but the interface has too much going on IMHO. I don't even want to open it up to practice, much less, generate any song ideas.

the non-audiophile version has the audio files in wma format. I don't know anything about the upgrade to audiophile - I've never decided that was something I wanted. I have the 2010.5 ultrapakplus, so my upgrade is $99. MM - that would make sense IF I had an iPhone! kson - I agree that the GUI is very busy. when I frist bought BIAB back with version 10, IIRC, I didn't even use it for a year or so. maybe 2. I finally decided to give it another chance even tho it was so busy and not all that intuitive to learn how to use. once I gave it a chance, however, and learned how to use it, it's a VERY powerful tool and fantastic for helping to create songs as well as creating backing tracks for instruments I can't play.

Well Beagle , I skipped a version so my upgrade is 159 dead presidents, but I never got a hankering for the Audiophile version, either.. I am downloading 2011 right now and hoping to see the Harddrive version Tuesday (wow 15 bucks for NEXT day, I wish everybody was that cheap) I really like the way the program has matured beyond the jazz centric styling it use0 dto be based on ... It is great for backing tracks, and yes for sketching out a rhythm section as a midi file and substituting my own instrumentation .I havent delved into the soloist/melody maker thing or the audio recording capability with the harmonizer, but maybe ill revisit RealBand..

This has been on my wish list for some time now (funding for it is my real wish list ) and I was looking at the different packages (1st time buyer).... Comparing the UltraPlus with the Everything PAK, the only difference I see are the tutorials/lessons in the Everything PAK. I've wathced some of their free video tutorials (in the past), and it didn't seem too complicated to get going.....but, that's subjective. Is it worth the $70 for tutorial/lesson video's?

I have not paid for the tutorials and lessons myself. They would be worth it if you need them - but there's no way to know if you need them or not until you try it!

Beagle Jonbouy Thanks for the heads up Reece. I reckon I'll have $49 worth of that. hard to beat that deal! Exactly! I don't use anything other than the midi aspects of it, I only need the engine update. Another no-brainer for me. Although if somebody was tempted to dip their toe in the water for the first time and wasn't too interested in the audio 'Realtracks', I'd recommend the Megapak for $199 as it has all the style sets, melodists etc.

The thing about BB is that there is just so much stuff in that package. I was totally amazed at all that it can do, and all that functionality can be very overwhelming. When I first got it, I was a bit taken back by all the things in it...where do I start? So.... I remember the reason I bought it... I simply wanted a steel guitar in a song..... that's all.... so I then set about learning how to do just that one thing. Since buying it, I have obviously learned how to work with it in more ways, but it's safe to say that I ignore 80% of what is there..... a valid question would be, do I even know what's there? I have found BB to be a valuable songwriting tool and so easy to use to "scratchpad" some ideas together to see if they work. I plan to call or chat with them to see what is included for me in the upgrade. With over 1700 midi styles and hundreds more RT styles... I haven't even come close to exploring them all yet. edit: awww heck.... I pulled the trigger..... 7 to 14 days from now, I'll see if it's worth it. Reading the list of new included items..... it looks promising. I have been selling some old stuff on eBay so yeah... why not.

looks like I'm not going to get away with the $99 upgrade! I have 2010.5 on my system, but it was a free update from 2010. I didn't buy the summer Real Tracks when they were released. so if I upgrade to 2011 for $99 then I would be missing 101 Real Tracks! I have to upgrade from 2010 (even tho my BIAB says "2010.5"!) for $139 in order to get all 202 new Real Tracks with my upgrade. Oh well. that's not bad.

I have been selling some old stuff on eBay so yeah... why not. You SHOULD have received a download link for the 2011 exe and the 10 pak... No realtracks/real drums download since that is 35 gigabytes of material . I did the 2009 Hard drive pack and it started flaking out on me , so as sonn as I receive the 2011 hard drive all of it is going on my other HDs in the PC

Yeah I did... I'm not too interested in the 2011 engine.... my interest lies with the real tracks and the styles, and I'm not about to spend the time to DL them. I'll wait on the DVD. The stuff in the bonus paks looked interesting so I got them as well.....20 IIRC... I used the hard drive all the time with my lappy sine I was limited on drive space, and running it off an external drive didn't seem to work to well. On my new DAW, I have tons of storage so I did a full install. Now the HD sets collecting dust. I will of course, install the new updates to both locations.

$25US for the extra bonus pack (it comes with one bonus pack, the 2nd is $25). so I spent another $179. it's only money, right?

fwrend Thanks Beaj (& please don't tell the wife) LOL!! I've given the huge headache of all the bill paying to the good lady of the house and I've had to get more & more creative in justifying my purchases...."long term investment for the children, no brainer, etc....". To get this BIAB, I've decided to sell my Mesa Boogie Blue Angel.....I just don't think I can justify a $329 purchase....lol.

My old version of BIAB is from 2003 (or 4). So i have a question. Is this newer version VST compatible? i.e. can I load it as a soft synth in Sonar?

NO you cant but it has a plug in mode where you can drag the biab tracks or the whole combo into sonar (x1) . BIAB wil also render the tracks as wave files to drag into your DAW.
