Feature Request's For X2

Ok it seems as the dust is settling , And the noise is down to minimal, Now that CW has implement Hot fixes , And there no longer afraid of them , It seems mostly everyone is happy. The big question is will they release X2 in 5 months? If so what would you want to see?
I like to see them add a basic delay to the pro Channel such as in Fruity loops on each channel, I also like to see a nice Vst plugin Filter , A nice emulation of an Allen and Heath filter would be fine with me.. or a Sherman..
 What would you like See?

It would be cool if you could just change the EQ in Pro Channel into some kind of sherman filter

#1 - Fix all outstanding bugs - Bakers, you know what they are. Do not let them go another release.

I'd like to see all the older 32 bit vst's like Perfect Space updated and refreshed. And perhaps a common color theme and interface between all the various plugs. Now we have blue Sonitus, gray/brown percussion strips, VVocal another color theme and so on. I know it won't help performance, but I always feel scattered with all the different pieces of 'stuff' flying around - and panup's mods don't help performance either but they sure help in the overall feel.

MIDI tools sightly tweaked to increase performance. Pretty good now but I know there's tricks yet to be tried.

Zoom Scroll with mouse wheel and other simple ways to increase decrease zoom levels.

The return of a 'Blank' template - that doesn't kill Screen Sets.

    Customizable colors.

    Customizable Control Bar.

New tool bar icon - "Insert Talent Here"

Fixing the colors of envelopes in the track view would be #1 (in tandem with allowing colouring of the PAN and VOL sliders in the Track View Control Panel)

You can copy "blank" from the 8.5 file and paste in X1 and "there you go!"

I would like to see a kind of "studio 'non-stick' tape" that one could 'stick on a fader track/bus and put marks/lines in maybe different colors that at specific times that fader would move between the "digital tape and its' marks" at specific now times and "slopes" to get to and from the next marker. The tape could fade with "X-Ray" and adjustment to the 'start' level.

Would be quick - easy and "retro" too.

    Any Thoughts?

Zoom Scroll with mouse wheel and other simple ways to increase decrease zoom levels.

The return of a 'Blank' template.

Just an FYI that SONAR already has Fast Zoom. Hold Alt and scroll the mouse wheel to zoom in and out. You can tweak the settings in Zoom Options which is in the Track View's Options menu. Personally, I set the Vertical value to 1.000 so that it only scrolls horizontally, but that's a personal preference.

Also, there is a Blank template you can choose when you click File and then New. With each release I lobby hard for the Normal Template to have no audio or MIDI tracks of any kind but have a Master, Metronome, and Preview bus ready to go, but it gets shot down every time. Send it in as a feture request and maybe something will happen.

I should have said return a Blank Template that won't kill Screen Sets and produce other such anomalies.

    Thanks Seth,

Maybe I should request a few more things that are already there and have users point them out here.

Has the Blank Template been added back since X1a? Or do you still have to have an Audio or MIDI track in order to have a 'Blank' template that won't kill Screen Sets? Hey wait if there's an Audio track is it still blank?

The Blank Template is still there, and you can save the Normal template (which is what opens when pressing Ctrl + N) however you want. Just click File and then Save As, change the type to Template, then navigate to where the Cakewalk Templates are saved and save over the existing Normal Template.

However, Screensets do not work if there are no tracks in a project. It's a known issue, one that I've lobbied over, and one that we can hopefully fix in the future.

I posted earlier about ,please, spend some time and give us a better staff view with more comprehensive clefs and dynamic marks! I know a lot of us who use the staff view on a daily basis would love to see an improvement. Even if it were a separate program by Cake to run inside or along side of X1. Otherwise, I'm extremely happy after the last Quick Fix 245!

    Thanks again Seth.

I've worked around it with a hidden (Track Manager) Audio track and open that template with Cntrl 'N' as my 'Normal' template but I would like a true Blank template with operational Screen Sets. Maybe someday though I don't think many of us use a true blank template - could be wrong.

    Hello everyone,

I'd like to see a CW Pro-Channel-like reverb that models the some ofthe famous vintage-style reverbs, and is stereo. Convolution or otherwise.

I'd also like if the selected track wave preview would update in real time like the bus wave preview.

There's only one huge want left for me: VARISPEED.

But, of course, there are a ton of "small wants". For me the name of the game is "integration". Integrate V-Vocal, fully integrate Audiosnap (tho, for the record, it's come a long way), ACT 2.0 (for god's sake please!), completely integrate the Matrix View, fully integrate side-chaining (like, why doesn't it exist as available for every audio stream?)

The rest is keep fixin' and keep implementing. I think some customizations should return (colors, control bar modules, tool settings) and then little things like a "time selected" indicator.

Visual bugs are more and more bizarre here , will post the last one i  had ;)

    Feature :

1.Magnetism and grid for pianoroll independant

2.Resolution choice (like in abelton) (talking about the app display resolution)

3.More customisation like panup mods and deeper

4.Better (it will be easy as it's horrible now) visbilty for folders and their tracks linked....

I wouldn't want to see anything more added to the ProChannel it already takes up too much room.

I too would like to see a varispeed, but I'm not holding my breath,  I don't expect much of X2 other than fleshing out the new GUI better, tweaks, adding some options back in etc.

I like to see them add a basic delay to the pro Channel such as in Fruity loops on each channel, I also like to see a nice Vst plugin Filter , A nice emulation of an Allen and Heath filter would be fine with me.. or a Sherman..
    What would you like See?

That would indeed be awesome. I'll see what I can do (no promises, but I'll give it a nudge).

I would very much like to see a digital delay on the pro channel strip. I loved the fact that my DM24 mixer had a delay function on each channel which made for some awesome effects/ mixes. But I don't have that option available anymore since I have went to the Lynx convertors and Toft console. Please consider putiing a delay on the pro channel for audio tracks. And the note values back on the staff and PRV.

I'd like to see video import / video features added

A better, more sophisticated snap system dedicated to the PRV

I don't care about plugins so much as I have a lot of 3rd party as do many others

It would be cool if you flushed out the matrix view and added some features from similar to Geist or Maschine

    More stable (gapless?) audio engine

What exactly is preventing you guys from dropping FX into the FX bin? I think bloating the Pro Channel is exactly the wrong way to go - unless I'm missing something about what you're asking for.

I want to be able to import videos straight from my video camera without having to convert the file to make it adaptable with Sonar.

I would very much like to see a digital delay on the pro channel strip. I loved the fact that my DM24 mixer had a delay function on each channel which made for some awesome effects/ mixes. But I don't have that option available anymore since I have went to the Lynx convertors and Toft console. Please consider putiing a delay on the pro channel for audio tracks

What exactly is preventing you guys from dropping FX into the FX bin? I think bloating the Pro Channel is exactly the wrong way to go - unless I'm missing something about what you're asking for.

Well golooolly, I don't see the big deal in putting a widget on the strip to control the time in ms offset. It's a digital track! Delay comes natural to it. I mean just to delay one side or the other of a stereo track is something that can't be done to easily as it is now.

And crap on this stupid forum software. I keep wrapping the  text I want in quotes and the software strips the quotes out when it posts. What's up with that ?

My wants are very simple. Improve the readability on the interface. Panup has already helped this happen, just pick up the torch. Reading numbers and labels is difficult for me with the standard display. If you were then to improve the reliabilty and stability of the new model and throw in a couple of cool synths and effects, bob's your uncle. $99 please. Stabilize and refine, continuous improvement. If X2 has too much change I wouldn't buy it, I'd learn to live with the various versions I already own.

surround vst support, better transient detection in audiosnap, no more plugins.

I'll have three fingers of Glenlivet, with a little bit of pepper... and some cheese.

I agree 100% - don't bloat the prochannel with more unnecessary stuff.
The current three modules are fine, anything more belongs in the FX bin.

I'd like to see a real, USABLE scrub tool...one that lets you stop on a piece of music and the sound continues to be heard at that point.  Currently, when you stop moving the mouse the sound stops...duh!!!

---um, what?  A "scrub tool" is exactly that--You scrub the tool with your cursor/mouse.  It kind of loses its point if it continues to play.  The idea is you want to hear just one chord--stop--one phrase--stop--The scrub tool is functioning the way it has to/needs to.  - duh.
