All my audio clips in a project have 'disappeared', but the files are in the Audio Folder.
I just opened up a project I was working on last night, but nearly all the clips in the audio track I was recording to have mysteriously disappeared. The only clips that remain are the last four takes I made before closing the project: My first thought was to redraw/recompute the picture cache (even though I can't find that command anywhere in X1) but there is no audio there to redraw, the affected part of the project is completely empty/silent. My second thought was that (unlikely as it would have been) I may have 'accidentally' selected this part of the track and deleted it, but all the associated audio files for the missing clips are present in the project's Audio Folder. Sadly, I had versioning switched off so I can't revert to a previous saved version of this project. My third thought was that maybe I'd somehow saved the project under a different name, but this is definitely the only version of this project I have. So, what seems to have happened is that the audio files relating to those clips have somehow become disassociated with the project. They're sitting there in the Audio Folder with all the other audio files from the project which are being correctly inserted into the project. I'd really appreciate any obvious quickfix to this to save me either having to re-record (about 50-odd clips ) or having to identify each audio clip and then import them all separately back into my project and reposition them.

1. Zoom out 2. Or maybe you need to show more layers

CJaysMusic 1. Zoom out 2. Or maybe you need to show more layers Thanks CJ. That screenshot shows the whole track, and all layers, and the last thing I did last night (before my final Save) was to 'Rebuild Layers'.

Steve, I know yesterday you were talking about splitting clips and deleting the left hand portion. The concern for you here is that you've highlighted the entire track, split a clip - any clip - where you want and deleted the left hand portion and deleted the clips you wanted as well as the bit you didn't want. Are you 100% sure that NO other clips were selected when you hit delete? I know i've managed to this myself a couple of times

Hi Col Yes mate, I'm as certain as I can be. What I was on about yesterday was comping two separate tracks simultaneously. All I'd done here was just finished tracking, rebuilt layers, and save/close. I opened the project up earlier today to start comping this track and it appeared exactly as it does above. As a precaution, I've copied the project and the audio files and am currently trying to recreate my track in the cloned project from the saved audio. And there's no way I'm closing X1 until I have a nice complete exported 24/48 file ready for Bapsi

Ah, good luck mate - keep focussed, you'll get there. Layers though......they always make me think a bit. edit to add a thought that you've probably got covered. You say you've copied the project & audio files - hopefully you did this manually through Windows yes? Because if you do a save as with "Copy Audio with Project" checked and the audio's not there - you'll be knackered.

i know it doesn't help resove this, but in the interest of "why?", if you sent the cwp to support they might be able to see any traces of the disappeared clips? (also, do i remember there being issues with "rebuild layers"? e.g., http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=1970008 )

I saved the actual project under a different name and manually copied the audio folder to a completely different destination.
