John - if you do end up sending a letter to the funeral home asking them to forward to the family, I might suggest that you leave an email address or some other means to contact you (phone number if you don't feel worried about it), so that someone in the family might contact you to let you know that they have recieved the letter and respond.

I broke my own rules and added the last names.. I have now printed out the entire letter and will send to the funeral in care of. I also will call them before I send it. I will create a new thread when I hear back if I hear back. I did provide myself as the contact person plus it has the forum address.

Thanks for all your time and attention to this, John. It really means a lot to all of us to be able to (hopefully!) reach out to the family with some meaningful words of sympathy, and your efforts have been essential in that regard.

John, Thanks again for putting in all the time and effort on our behalf. Billy was such an important part of these forums and I know his family and loved ones will take comfort in knowing just how much he meant to us all. You are a good person for doing this and it helps us all deal with the loss. I don't post too much (usually dumb-ass questions I should already know the answer to!) but I've learned so much from folks like you, CJ, Bitflipper, Project M, etc. Billy helped me on many occasions and I know I'll miss his level-headed advice.

All is under control and the last bit has been done. I called the funeral home and without me having to ask they said they would forward the letter to the family. The letter has been sent. So consider this complete.

MArwood MArwood - Max Arwood Might be too late, but Billy was a great guy. Gonna miss him! I'm very sorry I can't include your name. The letter has already been mailed. I was hoping that this wouldn't happen. I tried to give plenty of notice. Post 281 by me was the post that ended all further inclusions because at that point the letter was printed and placed in an envelope. Shortly after that I mailed it. I'm sorry.

Now that the letter is sent I can talk about this thread. The first thing to make clear is without CW's sanction of this thread by not moving it and letting it continue they have shown great forbearance and thoughtfulness. Second the forum as listed in this thread has been wonderful. The simplicity of the postings made the work in managing this very simple. Third I don't feel that I should be getting any particular notice here. It was and is a forum undertaking. I feel very strongly about this. Forth I am the grateful one for the forum allowing me to do this. Without the support and cooperation of the entire forum I couldn't have done anything. Fifth your suggestions have been extremely helpful. And finally sixth no one has made a negative comment in any of the threads. What has happened is the forum has come together over a single issue. One that the forum has shown extrema tolerance and care in its postings. That alone is to be treasured. It has happen for a sad reason but it can't be forgotten that it happened. Let us all remember Ba Midi for as long as this forum exists.

I procrastinated about adding my name to the letter, as I had not really communicated with Billy in my short time on this forum, but had read many of his posts, and identified with, and learned from, him. I felt disingenuous to join in. It was something BitFlipper shared that made me want to add my name. Your later post made me realise that I was right to. Thank you both.

Keep in mind that many members haven't seen the threads. However the number is far more than I had expected. Its a very healthy number.
