A vote on what you consider to be the next important update to Sonar.
After reading the extremely lengthy "No VST3 post", I thought I would throw this out there. I read SO MANY users saying that VST3 development is not important to them. Cakewalk has said that they feel that not enough of their base users want this feature. So...let's put it to a vote. In your response, please only choose ONE of the numbers from the following list. After I see that the thread has died down, I will calculate the numbers and post back what the users think is important in X2. Again....just so that it is not impossible for me to go through when the voting is over....DO NOT COMMENT. Just leave one number. 1 = VST3 inclusion 2 = Melodyne integration 3 = More R-Mix options/development 4 = Totally, 100% gap free audio I will start: 1.

I am surprised that Staff View improvement did not make the list. It is an annual complaint. VST3 is a newby by comparison. In any event, I vote yes.

I read the entire VST3 post. I don't have a dog in that fight. I don't need it and I would not use it. However I think the people who want notation raise a valid issue. After looking at the new features in X2 I think the RD people did a great job. I am usually the last guy to update and I tend to update every other version. I would not trade any feature in X2 for VST3. I would go with option 5 from shinyhead.

bigboi 2 = Melodyne integration do you really think they will intergrate melodyne? how do you figure...? I'm pretty sure this will never happen and here are the simple reasons for that: - Cakewalk have V-Vocal integrated
- Roland owns Cakewalk
- Roland developed the VariPhrase technology that V-Vocal's powered by
I really don't think Roland/Cakewalk would pay a competitor for a product when Roland's got a tool already implemented into Sonar that's doing basically the same thing. What I'd like to see though is that they would continue to develop V-Vocal, cuz I agree that V-Vocal's falling behind the competition..

1 but: i'm speaking of 3.5, NOT 3. And it doesn't make sense to just host vst3 v3.5 plugins. The host itself has to be extended to actually support vst 3.5 specific feature, like polyphonic automation and expression map integration, in whatever way. Other than that, I'd vote for #6: a revamp of ACT, although automap already fulfills my needs for at least plugin remote control, host independent, so ACT2 should cater rather for Sonar remote. Midi feedback would be cool, for example...

2,1 and 4! Actually Melodyne is a pain with Sonar (you can't loop!). Stop developing plugs and vsti's and focus on ARA implementantion,VST3 and gapless audio engine (and of course bug fixes!!).

2 - ish. As loptec said, improved Melodyne, or whatever. Just a decent quality pitch correcter. V-vocal's sound quality is semi-professional, but it still has a bit of work before you could even consider calling it professional quality.

4 - gapless audio. It's about the only thing that really bugs me about Sonar when I'm in the zone. 2 would be vst3 just to keep up with the competition. Focus on the core, leave the rest to specialized plugs and apps, jack of all trades, master of none and all that.

I vote 4 first + the work they did on new Pro Channel and console emulation after that then 1, 2. I still haven’t decided yet if I going to upgrade to X2 but if this slow progress continues of not adding new technologies in time, they will eventually lose me as a customer too.
