Thank you Cakewalkers

I have noticed the postings from many CW people on this forum explaining different things about X2. I have read all they have written and saw a pride in their posts. I think they look at this version with a great deal of pride. The shock that greeted them when they rolled out X1 is long gone. Now they can bask in the light of a fine well excepted product. They have been very active in answering questions but also offering tips. This is true value added. Its what makes Cakewalk, Cakewalk.

I am in the process of down loading my copy of Sonar X2 Pro at this time because of the interaction between us and them. Thank you CW!

I don't like waiting Beep. I rather buy something and then have it as soon as possible. In this case because it was only a day and I couldn't be sure when it would be released it seemed odd to pay for it and not have it.

Besides I was able to read about issues and successes before having to commit.

It's sounding pretty awesome. I'm not installing right away myself but that's more out of laziness/not wanting to go through another boring install just yet. Hoping to close out my tester track in the next couple of days. I'll probably install right after that.

Same here, John, and I have to admit that I'm pretty pleased about the overall response to the X2, which gives me a lot of confidence that I'm not in for any major surprises/headaches.  I just reformatted my system drive yesterday and re-installed W7, so I'll be able to start with X2 on a clean and freshly installed OS when I buy it later today or tomorrow.

Congratulations John on being the first person to decide to download and install SONAR X2 after everyone else proved to you it was something you could feel good about.

I would have done that too but some Cakewalker Forumite challenged us all to be the first poster to download and install.

Anyone know who the challenger was and who the challenged first was?

Not to be a party pooper or anything, but despite all the happiness surrounding X2 (myself included), I'm finding a little bit of "buyer's remorse" and that the excitement of wanting was greater than the excitement of having.  I think the additional features in X2 are terrific, I'm especially enjoying the R-MIX module, that's just fun to play with (and unfortunately discovered I did not need to recently buy that vocal eliminator/isolator, R-MIX does a great job with that.)  But honestly this feels more like a .5 release (or even a .75 release) than an actual FULL upgrade.
But I guess it sounds better calling it X2 than X1.5

The bottom line is, yes I think it was worth the upgrade price, but I think they missed out on several opportunities to truly make it a full version upgrade.  (The color scheme for one thing)

    Hey Bapu,

I think you were 1st,  but we should double check.  There was someone named "toon" or something that I think might have posted a X2 pic before you finished.

It could be a photo finish.

I think we need to check the tape for a review.  Might be too close to call.

wow... I would certainly miss my automation lanes and the ease of which you can now add new nodes and draw freehand automation curve. And the way we can now add notes in the PRV is much better. There is no way I'm going back to X1 now, this is a one way ticket for me...

again.....iSonar. (for those who didn't get the joke, look the iPhone hype everytime a new one is released. And yes, I get caught up in it too.)

For the $99 upgrade I am pleased for the most part. But, did we actually get a full version of anything other than the upgrade from X1 to X2 (you all know the differences)? Breverb: NO ($99 upgrade), TH2 Producer: NO ($99 upgrade). Not sure but I dont think R-Mix is the full version either. I seem to agree with LEEE, it was only $99 so i got it and there are a some cool things, but could I revert back to X1 and probably not miss anything? Maybe there are things I haven't found yet. Time will tell.
The BREVERB included in SONAR X2 Producer has 4 of the 7 algorithms in the full version plus most of the controls. We also added a BREVERB SONAR ProChannel module. The full version is $269 so you can get an idea of the value. The Overloud TH2 Producer also includes many of the best amps, as well as many of the features of the full version. We think it's a big upgrade in terms of amp sim in SONAR. R-MIX SONAR also includes many of the features of the full version. The way it was integrated was specific for SONAR and offers a completely new way to mix. You also forgot to mention the Console Emulator...what's the cost on those these days? Plus now you can make an FX Chain in to a ProChannel module.

In addition, there are hundreds of enhancements to workflow and usability.

Here's a list of some of the new highlights:

    http://www.cakewalk.com/p...s/sonar/whats-new.aspx

I think all in all, it's a pretty solid upgrade and if you add up everything you get, it's well worth the $99. Maybe my opinion is bias. :)

I can't understand why anyone might feel that the X2 upgrade isn't worth the asking price.  Sonar is, IMO, by far the best bang-for-buck DAW on the market.  X2 only solidifies this position.  Congratulations on the successful rollout, and best of luck in the future!

Yep, BREVERB and Console Emulation alone make it worth the $99 for me.  BTW, thanks for everybody's info on their installations, etc.  I've been a Cakewalk user since Pro Audio 8 but I've never really hit the forums before.  It's a great resource.

The quick zoom and track highlight sizing was enough for me. Great step up from X1. I will easily get my 99 dollars worth out of it.

    Andrew,
I feel it was worth the $99 upgrade price. I bought it and once I learn the new features I am sure that I will take advantage of them. However... I purchased X1, 9 months ago and it came with Guitar Rig 4 (a lite version). I upgraded that, plus a few other plugins(approx $300 total). Lots of hype around TH2 but there are no presets, so I have not had time to figure it out and try it out. A little disappointment there. Of course I could upgrade for another $99.  I am thrilled with Breverb. Not sure what is in the full version, but I will not be spending another $99 to find out. Console emulator? not to that skill level yet. A few of the changes I really like (automation lanes), a few I don't like (seperate lanes for seperate takes, smart tool behavior in automation lanes). The lanes use up too much screen real estate. Obviously cakewalk felt X1 was a good version or you wouldn't have released it. I think X1 is fantastic, by default X2 is also. Honeslty (as a recording non pro) if I lost x2 and was forced to use X1, I could continue with little impact.  Thanks for the link.

Great to hear. I just wanted to point out some of the upgrades and new stuff so people see just how much we have included.

@Andrew... Sorry to threadjack but could one of you kind Cake fellows take a look at my panning problem a few threads down? I could use some insight before I continue chasing my tail around... and yeah, the statement that X2 doesn't include anything new is pretty silly.

    Andrew:
Just for the record I'm happy with the upgrade and the price.  I believe the additions were worth the $99 I spent.  (Well actually, closer to $300 because I sprang for the upgrades for Breverb and TH2.)

Which leads me to my question, do you know if there is a discounted upgrade price for the full version of R-MIX?  As I said, it's one of my favorite new additions to the X2 upgrade and I think I could really benefit from the full version.

Thanks again to everyone who worked so hard to make X2 a great upgrade!
