jb101 I agree that he just didn't seem to understand that snap at zero idea. If he had been less offensive to other forum members, I would have posted the answer, but instead I posted the RTFM. I've never said that before, it was in reaction to his attitude. What gets me with these people is that even though they are obnoxious, some kind souls still offer help, and are ignored or insulted. @beep - Do you remember that guy the other week that started out rude, and kept going at me even as I tried to help him? He had a go at you too. I don't understand the mentality. You come here because you need help, and act like a ........ Hahah... yeah I remember. I was gonna message you about it to give you a heads up. I actually realized after a while we were dealing with a severe case of Aspberger's with that guy which is why I stopped posting in that thread. I felt bad for him because it's a crappy condition but I've tried to offer help to guys like that in the past and it always turns out really freaking crazy. Best course of action is to just slooowly back away.

I have been here a very long time and posters like the OP do come in from time to time. Fortunately they are not the majority. Don't let these sorts of posts get you down. You have seen members here go to great lengths to help a poster. Sometimes when the poster is not in a good mood. What these posters fail to see is they are not attacking the software or the developers but the members of the forum. All you can do is your best and forget the rest.

I really don't post anywhere else anymore I like you guys so much. :-) This is the only forum I have ever really used. I posted on one years ago, and was so surprised at the idiotic responses that I deleted my post and never went back. I have used Sonar since Sonar 6, but didn't come on here until I upgraded to X1, as I'd also upgraded my PC and operating system, and was somewhat overwhelmed. Most of my problems were PEBKAC errors, but several people were so helpful, I stayed. I have learnt SO much from here. I try to pay back by helping people if I can. You get the odd pillock, both new, like the OP, and old regular (I'm sure we know the ones), but the good outweigh the bad. Most times I ignore the bad, but occasionally like to have "a little tickle" as one forum member described it.

This forum sure as hell beats Gearslutz. I've learned a lot over there but damn there are some tech snobs. It seems that if you're not a pro in an acoustically perfect $50,000 studio then you're not worth giving advice to. Not fair on all the members sure, but I have seen a lot of it there. Try asking Gearslutz members what they think the best headphones for mixing are, just for a laugh. You'll get 50 replies saying "dude, you must NEVER mix ANYTHING on headphones." This forum is way friendlier and far less snobby.

This forum is way friendlier and far less snobby. I've said it before and I'll say it again. The reputation this forum has was one of the deciding factors of me investing in Sonar. I have not been disappointed. I just hope I can give back as much as I've received here.

Putting aside the personality and behavior issues for a moment , I sometimes have odd problems with the split tool. Coincidentally, just before reading this, I shut down Sonar because the split tool was acting weird. I would set the resolution to 1/8, use the Aim Assist to zero in on the right spot, and the the sciossors would split the clip 2-3 beats away from where I had the cursor/Aim Assist.

I know there's lots of other ways to do it but I always seem to screw them up so I just turn off the snap settings, zoom in, set the now time where I want and press S. It's not the most elegant way of doing things but it works every time. I might get fancier once I'm more comfortable with things.

leapinlizard Your post is more annoying than Sonar's behavior ... it sounds to me like you need to study up on how to use the split tool, as I (and I'm sure others) can get it to split where I want it to every time. User error, or Sonar behavior? Anyone else care to chime in? your post is like .......nothing at all ; P zero

I have run into a split problem that I don't think is user error. In track lanes, sometimes using the split tool doesn't work - it won't split the clip at the now time. If I type S, it splits.

Beepster I've seen some of those posts when the old threads get dredged up to the surface. As heated as they might have been they were usually pointing to some valid and frustrating issues. I'm certainly glad I missed out on the X1 growing pains. This however is a guy throwing a tantrum and attacking forum members in the most ridiculous way. Just watch when he comes back. BTW... it does sound like he just doesn't know how to use the snap settings. lol you are psychologists ? its not my problemo ,if you can not read exactly ; what my issue was .........the cuts were until the X2a update ; 1-2 samples (which is minimal ) not on time ,since X2a its OK ...... I had the same issue on X1 before the update ... Its cosmetic , but I am very gorgeous looking ; and so shall be my Clips at the start -.... The Issue is at hand solved ; my X2a is NOW on 64 bit installation ---and runs 10 times better -- DESPITE all my "nervous " breakdowns ; due to the fact , that I realy need my work ...... NO one of you super heroes and silly Cucumbers ; have told me in one single tiny sentence --THAT SONAR just works so much better if installed 64 version ---- well ........ not even the cakewalk support told me . I know now sorry for my last name ...it seems that I have to be VERY ,very carefull around Banjo players ; what I say .........FUNCK your cubase --go back to it yourselfs ! ; P
