Lately it HAS been a bit more chaotic than usual with the S7 release and almost accidental viral marketing. The "pig-pile" comment may also refer to the fact that the forum gets posts from all crawls of life, from seasoned studio veterans to the probably thousands of "Joe Blows" who just want to get SONAR to work with their Sound Blaster card.

We've been dissed at Gearslutz before. I think they're mostly Cubasers who find it incomprehensible that there is a group of users who actually like their product and its vendor. Clearly, we must be a bunch of militant, brainwashed wingnuts.

I like gearslutz.. Just because I LEARN A LOT about gear and techniques.. I ask mainly Sonar related question here.. I posted there asking how many Sonar users were in "Low End" I was surprised, the thread gained about 3-4 pages of GOOD responses..

Can anyone help That would be "for being OFF subject"... Go to the "SONAR Producer and Studio" page (where you see the list of posts...not the individual posts themselves) and find the "New Post" button. Once you open a new post, make sure you Subject line gives enough information (in a very few words), that people have an idea what your post is about. Subjects like "Help Me" aren't very helpful.

And now Oprah is permanently entrenched in the Sonar 7 Hall Of Fame. And what would it hurt if we get listed right below her in Google? You just want to keep her to yourself.

I don't know what 'pig-pile' means but I think this is a great forum. Others I visit frequently are Line6 and Native Instruments. Cakewalk is absolutely the best of those three. I think the diversity of the population, both in terms of experience and also personalities is what makes it so interesting. You get all types of questions and responses: angry, giddy, impatient, sarcastic, humorous, defensive, provocative, condescending, but in the end you can almost guarantee that the overall tone will be helpfull and your questions will be answered.

ORIGINAL: musicman100 pig-pile that is the Cake forums right now I think you're reading too much into that comment... or maybe not enough! The poster of that comment is a member here... And he got his upgrade yesterday. The characterization of "pig-pile" is both fair and really not deragatory in any way... The forum always gets a little crazed this time of year. The term "pig-pile" isn't a bad thing... I will say that this year's many discussions of pricing and missing features is much tamer than last year's endless rants on the GUI changes, the slimmed-down manual, the missing S5 bug fixes, etc., etc. etc. Listen, some of those complaints are perfectly valid, but when it deteriorates into name calling, then that's just out of control. Not so out of control this year... so, cheers fellow forum members, even those of us who are disgruntled...

What I always find funny is people who get emotional about software and computers in general. To me software and hardware are nothing more than tools, just like the hammers and wrenches in my garage. For me the emotion comes with creating music and the finished product, not how I got there with the tools I use. And when I see people with thousands and thousands of post's and they get all ramped up about anything, what I see there is a person who needs to spend more time making music and less time running the mouth. Turn the internet off and go get creative!

ORIGINAL: bitflipper That's like saying your guitar is nothing more than a tool. Well, Flip, all of my guitars ARE tools, but that's probably cause I never cashed out enough on one axe to really feel committed to it... But you gotta admit it's a bit wierd. Like say, for instance a week or so ago, ArtSoul announced that he had been forced to get PT cause of some file naming tool that he requires for his business. There was really a lot of "shame on you" types of replies! Like he was some sort of cowardly traitor buying a second DAW program just because he needed ONE tool. What's up with this loyalty thing? It's like White Pride or something! If anything the software companies should be loyal to US, not vice versa. After all, WE'RE the ones paying THEM! Sven

That's exactly what I'm saying. Is a guitar something more? They don't have brains, feelings, emotions. They are only tools unless a human makes it something more, but that is only a human trait. Just like a great woodworker creates works of art with his ****tools*** we can create works of art with out instruments. The minute you become emotional about a tool is simply human behavior.

Actually, I think the Sonar forum has gone downhill. A year or so ago I thought it was the most useful music-production related forum out there, in that there was always a lot of very knowledgable people who would help you out even if you're a total newbie or if your issue wasn't strictly Sonar-related. That's still basically true, but there's a lot more nastiness now. Frequent accusations of piracy, and numerous complaints about various types of threads or even specific posters some times. There seems to be a lot more RTFM responses as well. But it's still a good place to go to get answers to your questions....
