Thanks for checking. Am I off base thinking that it's unfortunate I can't mix the ride or cymbals as their own levels in AD instead of always working them through the overheads? It's easy in Session Drummer and in other drums I use. I like Addictive Drums a lot, but have been wrestling with that.

Lawa, I got deeper into this.  The "L" in the upper left hand corner of the Kit Slot
allows you to pick anything and put it in Flex1, 2, etc....so you CAN do it!!!

Apparently, after reading the manual, there is
no way to edit the Beats within AD2.  That must
still be done in the PR.

I may have missed something, as I have a lot more to study on this.
But I'm loving the sound.  The Reverb sounds really nice.
The kits sound really good.

I think that I saw on the email that you would get AD2 versions of all the ADPaks you already own, so you don't have to rebuy them. Can't remember if it was in their email or on the website.

Not sure if I will purchase the upgrade immediately as AD1 meets my needs, but I will be following the posts of the early adopters.

Yes. It sounds very good. You can add or delete beats in the "grid search". The transform thingy is pretty cool. I guess this is a demo limitation, but I can't seem to refresh the midi to add my 3rd party stuff. A negative is having to buy all of the kits. It doesn't seem to come with any, but all kits come with AD2. I wish we could at least keep the original 3 that are in AD. I believe this and EZD2 are going to be very nice together. Create your midi groove or song in EZD2 and switch the midi maps of AD2 to EZD and then I can use the AD2 engine when wanted. Not a bad thing if you ask me.

AD 1 came with some kits and when I bought it they were also giving away 2 AD Paks or the Retro AD Pak. I never tried adding my other midi files to the browser because AD 1 doesn't use general midi mapping. I load AD into the synth rack and set AD to utilized general midi in the map window to browse my other midi files. I'm looking forward to AD2 because I'm pretty vested in AD Paks.

I have a few from groove monkee and platinum samples. I like them because they are formatted for SD, EZD and AD. Groove monkee has a world percussion pack setup for " Toontrack's latin percussion" that is nice.

I love that they've expanded the number of kit pieces you can have loaded at once. That's major, since I've been resorting to loading multiple instances of AD--for example, to load a secondary snare, session percussion, extra cymbals, etc. It's also great that they've expanded on AD1, so it's not like you have to re-learn a totally new product.

Has anyone tried it with Jamstix yet? I love how easy it is to drive AD with Jamstix's MIDI-out given that it includes an AD mapping preset. I hope nothing's changed in AD2 to stop that working.

Rain - not much resistance there.

LOL

I guess. In view of how I've been trying to find a solution for my current bunch of projects short of buying BFD, it was worth a try. And their Vistalite kick has got to be one of the best sounding bass drum to my taste. :P

I found the standalone AD2 in C:\program files\xlnaudio\addictive drums 2

The installer didn't create a Stand Alone Icon.

Just an FYI

I take it Fairfax Studios is located in the old Sound City Building?
And have some of the old Sound City Equipment?

I know David Grohl has the Neve Console that made Sound City famous.

I just noticed that in this view...

You can play the samples by hitting the drums.

Click on the bass drum and it plays the sample
Click on the HiHat and it plays the sample
Click on just above the Bass and it plays the Snare Sample
Click on the Crash and it plays the Sample

Not a noteworthy feature...but nice nonetheless...

I am running win 8.1, I did get an AD2 Standalone icon but it was not pinned to start. I had to click the down arrow to get to Apps then I Right clicked, checked pin to Start. You can also pin to the taskbar. Most of my recent installs have done that. Perhaps that is a change in win 8.1

I'm running 8.1 Pro also...I just found the executable and pinned to the start menu.
I rarely use the down arrow menu...so didn't even think of looking there.
I found the manual in C:\ProgramData\XLN Audio\Addictive Drums 2/App/ADBV0002/Manuals.
You can get it from the help menu but I wanted the actual PDF File.

AD can be mapped to GM. Go to the Beats page and there is a dropdown to select the midi map you want to use. I use GM all the time since I've been writing in it since forever.

I am looking forward to this. The extra slots will be most useful.

I do the same thing in the map window. It has the same exact dropdown menu. Different strokes...

Larry - that's terrific! Thanks for checking. That alone will be a big help.

Two internal 2TB SSDs laptop stuffed with Larry's deals and awesome tools. Studio One is the cat's meow as a DAW now that I've migrated off of Sonar. Using BandLab Cakewalk just to grab old files when migrating songs.

Are there any limitations in this AD2 demo? It seems that the program itself is free and the only limitation is in the Fairfax demo. I don't have any adpaks of yet, so can someone confirm this for me? If the AD2 program itself is basically free...how do I refresh the midi library? I've done everything I can think of. (yes I've read the manual) It would be nice if you could pay $79 for AD2 and get the original 3 kits, but it looks like they are now the Rock, Prog and Pop adpaks.

All the Kits will be updated to AD2 format from what I understand.  The ones you own now will be updated
upon upgrading to AD2.  Right now, the only kit you can use with the Demo is the Fairfax pieces that came
with it.

They didn't by any chance add a metronome to the standalone? AD is my favorite drumpler for practice these days, and I need to load it from within SONAR to play along with a click...

I listened to the demo's on these and they're ALL very useful/sound good. I'll probably just have to watch for a good deal on KVR to get these.
