AD2 Demo

I found an Addictive Drum 2 download in the XLN installer after I updated the installer. There is also a Fairfax demo. The Fairfax is just Bass, snare hihat and cym but it lets you play with AD2. It took a long time to download the AD2 Demo though.

Well, I went into the XLN Online installer because I just bought vintage Dry adpak. Maybe that is what added the links. Try clicking register Product. See if Fairfax is in there. Or Click the orange button 'Everything is uptdate' under Your Products. That will check to see if you have the latest code. Something through the install into my products. I actually haven't purchase the upgrade yet.

So what's different about it cclarry?

From what I've read it's more and update than an a new build and from the screen shots it looks much the same.
They're being very quiet on new features and I'm surprised they've not released any video's and such they way EZdrummer did. They seem to be missing a trick in wetting peoples appetite.
So do the alder kits sound the same or is it just the new kits you think are awesome ?

I'm intrigued now

The pieces that are not included in the Demo say "No License"

I was hoping there might be a way to edit the actual groove, timing/kit piece, within AD2 but I have not found it yet.
Looks like the fairfax is the only thing that allows any mods but there are several fixed demos of my other ADPaks.

Go to register my product in the installer...
It will have a white section in the upper right hand corner with "Fairfax Demo"

Select that and then re-run the installer.

It's funny, the drum grid looks just like BFD2 now

And I believe they are not locked in now either ?

Thanks for the screen shots and early testing. Does it look like you can assign a ride or a cymbal to Flexi1 or Flexi2? I've wanted a way to focus less on the overheads for those and have them available for individual mixing like the other main kit pieces. Just wondering.

Dammit, you guys have got me interested in AD now. I've not been all that happy w/ the sound of EZ/SD recently because I can't seem to find anything that sounds natural to my ear - everything sounds as though it's been printed to tape through some kind of BBE Sonic Maximizer and for the stuff I'm working on, that just doesn't cut it.

If only BFD wasn't that expensive...

But now I'm wondering if AD could allow me to access less mix-ready sounds... I've had good luck with their virtual piano, it's become my go to and one of the very few 3rd party plugs I can't imagine myself w/o.

Velocity layers seem to be good...I can get really light and really hard hits...
The reverb sounds really good.  Don't know whose reverb they are using.
There is a bunch of stuff I have to read the manual about.  There is a "Snapshot"
option with a little Camera Icon on the bottom of the interface.

More to come!!!

So far, while it doesn't have a "song writer" it sounds good.
There are more options for editing the MIDI patterns.

Tuck...here's the Pattern Editor...

It's under the 3rd Tab on the Beats screen...

Much to learn about this new piece of kit...

I shall know more tomorrow!

EDIT:  This isn't what I thought it was...

Thanks for checking. Am I off base thinking that it's unfortunate I can't mix the ride or cymbals as their own levels in AD instead of always working them through the overheads? It's easy in Session Drummer and in other drums I use. I like Addictive Drums a lot, but have been wrestling with that.

I don't think that's an outrages "Want".  I haven't dug into this deep enough to know all what's been
changed on going on...that will take time...

I will certainly report back...

Hey Larry,

Yeah I found that earlier but I did not see any way of actually changing the groove by adding/removing hits or changing the timing to individual kit pieces that I was hoping for although the accents controls and the global velocity controls are pretty cool and can add a significant feel change to the existing grooves. I think I really was expecting something similar to the song writer function in EZD2.

Still too soon to tell since this is just a demo that we probably shouldn't even know about yet...

Thanks to ArcRex for posting the discovery.

Yes. It sounds very good. You can add or delete beats in the "grid search". The transform thingy is pretty cool. I guess this is a demo limitation, but I can't seem to refresh the midi to add my 3rd party stuff. A negative is having to buy all of the kits. It doesn't seem to come with any, but all kits come with AD2. I wish we could at least keep the original 3 that are in AD. I believe this and EZD2 are going to be very nice together. Create your midi groove or song in EZD2 and switch the midi maps of AD2 to EZD and then I can use the AD2 engine when wanted. Not a bad thing if you ask me.
