Have you tried the drivers from the Alesis website? I have a multimix albeit a FW12 but that's older technology than the USB versions of the multimix and I have drivers that work on Windows 7 x64, so you should be able to get drivers for yours without any problem. ASIO4ALL isn't a driver as such, as I understand it - it's a wrapper for WDM drivers that will look like ASIO drivers to Sonar. I no longer use it as my set up has changed but I had great success with it on my older set up. It was better than the ASIO or WDM drivers for me and may or may not work for you, but you'll still need the original Alesis WDM drivers to use that.

Alesis does not have any drivers on their site. Take it back, it's not worth the headache, spend a few extra dollars and buy a better interface -take it from me, I have a Alesis USB Mixer, and it's always one thing after another. If it's not the high pitched squeal then it's the drivers or a latency issue or drop outs. Do yourself a favor and either take it back or shoot it.

Tech guy at Alesis is an idiot.....makes me wonder about them. Anyway, there are no x64 drivers for the multimix series.....but, XP and Vista 32 bit are only available on the Multimix 8 page: There is also a firmware update utility that might work for all in the multi mix series http://www.alesis.com/multimix8usb20 HTH Cheers!

There's definitely Windows x64 drivers for the Firewire Multimix 'cos I'm using them, and that's a discontinued product. Surely they have better support for the later models? Not that I've looked though so apologies if I'm wrong, but it'd be bizarre to say the least - mind you this is Alesis we're talking about....

On the Multimix USB4 page no drivers. But as Dmmi said on the Multimix USB8 page they have drivers. I would try those out. They have to have have ASIO drivers because the darn unit comes with Cubase 4LE and you have to use ASIO drivers for Cubase. Give it a try and let us know if it works. Plus I'd email Alesis tech support and tell them that someone over there said no drivers are on the page. Heck I go over and do it to now :) Ed

I just read the specs... and it mentions 16Bit/44.1k... so I'm thinking the unit use a class-compliant driver. In which case, it wouldn't have a proper ASIO driver. FWIW, You can use MME with Cubase... but you (obviously) have much higher latency.

" spend a few extra dollars and buy a better interface" Agreed. I am still using an Alesis IO26 interface. I'm fortunate that my rig is fairly stable, but I also cannot take advantage of low latency without bad drop outs. I think the consensus is that Alesis products simply just don't play well with Sonar. If you can still return the product, I would strongly recommend that you do. I only wish I knew this myself, before I was 'stuck' with an Alesis product.

Read the page on the link above.... clearly states there are no x64 drivers. Maybe there is a driver somewhere in cyberland.....i'm just going by the website

I think the consensus is that Alesis products simply just don't play well with Sonar. The Alesis stuff using the DICE-II chipset...

GMGM I think the consensus is that Alesis products simply just don't play well with Sonar. I can't speak for the Multimix stuff, but I have the Mastercontrol and it works perfectly. I was using it about 3 minutes after I installed the drivers and have not had any problems. Plus, the Sonar template it comes with requires no modification or changes. This has been a great purchase! http://www.alesis.com/mastercontrol
