All this talk of spam and advertising. There should be a TOS rule to prevent bacon threads. We get bombarded with those in the CH daily
It just isn't fair I tell ya, spam is the rest of the pig and thats a lot.

I love how my threads always go off topic. Ampeg SVX for $50 and AmpliTube Fender for $100. Awesome deal, that honestly would have been posted by someone else I am sure of it. I mean I've seen posts here that were straight copy/pasted from our IK News section.

Now yes I get paid to post on social networking sites for IK. Primarily Facebook, Twitter, Google + and Tumblr.

To be 100% honest, Cakewalk forums are not a priority here. I had to talk to my boss about posting here because, frankly, it is not worth IK's attention to. If you guys want to talk about lining my pockets I'd focus on sites, forums and social networks that have higher activity and can send us more traffic. In the grand scheme of things I just LIKE posting here. I laugh at some posts, learn from others and help when I can. so I have to be careful how I respond to people or I may lose the right to post here again.

So now my superiors are watching, I'm going to simply block the trolls like I have been and answer questions in these threads that directly relate to IK. My activity or references to meat from a can or blatant disrespectful comments will be ignored with the awesome "Block Member" feature. If I really bug you that much, I welcome you to do the same. For everybody else, thanks for your support.

Wow, who's being blatantly disrespectful now. Sure seems like you're always the first one to throw labels around like troll.
I would think someone in your line of work would have a thicker skin but you always seem fire the first shot.

If I was your boss and read your last post, you would be fired on the spot.

No need to reply and feel free to block me. I'm blocking you.

IK Obi - I went and bought the Ampeg - but I can't download the authorization manager - the web page says "403 - Forbidden."  so I can't install the product even though I paid for it and got a receipt.  I tried technical support, but you need to provide the version of the product and since I can't install it, I have no idea what version it is.  I tried to contact IK, but it said if it is a technical question, they will delete my email.   Can you help me?

Firstly Obi I understand that I likely fall into your personal assesment of being a troll when in fact I am a legitimate user of this forum being a Cakewalk user, and therefore I will be blocked by you. but I'm hoping as you say your supervisors are monitoring and can therefore report back to you what is actually being said in a way you might be able to understand.

Firstly your threads don't always go off-topic, this one is an advert and is therefore a non-topic.  You say honestly it would have been posted by someone else anyway, so why do you feel a need to persist in posting adverts?  You then say your input on social media networks are more of a priority than posting here and yet you defend tooth and nail your assumed right to continue to break the TOS, push the boundaries and cause the initial controversy that people on both sides of the fence react to.

If you are not that bothered then why again a need to persist.  Is it not something to do with your personal touch with putting your arm round several of your noticeably staunch advocates here via the PM system and take them to IK's checkout ensuring you get rewarded for the referrals?  That would make some sense in the light of what you've posted there otherwise why would you do it?  You've just stated on the one hand these forums are not worth bothering with and those against your promoting your commercial interests are trolls why would you even want to be here?

I'm crediting you with being able to read the TOS and understand why some of your input here could cause conflict, and you must remember here that anything that follows your input is merely a reaction, but there is no undertaking that has come voluntarily from you to apologise to legimate members of a forum you are a guest on for any disturbance you may have caused and to back off the hype a bit.  No, just more bullishness that you've done nothing wrong.

Given your style, maybe IK just want to court any old controversy to raise their profile rather than specifically garner good-will.  If that is a tactic of the company you represent it puts me off ever wanting to do business with them, it also puts me off that they would even condone your conduct here over the last few months.  Remember it was you specifically that made me shy of making a purchase of Amplitube in the first place because of your attitude following a simple pre-sales enquiry, so along with the fees you may get for personal introductions they should deduct at least one sale from that commission.  Mine!

(Hey, I just thought, maybe I can become an IK advocate if the terms were right.  Obi why not PM me an offer... )

Guitartrek- I am not obi but I had a similar issue with some of their software and was told it was the servers. They seem to occasionally have server trouble. I have also had this problem because my browser was blocking a download. Try using another browser. I have had decent luck with Google chrome.

I've seen IK OBi's "sale" posts before and never really thought much about them, but quite a few of you have made very valid points here.  I see (and could be wrong for all I know) the Software forum as a way for Cakewalk users to talk about third party software they tried and used.  I don't believe this was setup so that vendors can sell their wares.

A vendor saying its great means nothing to me.  I listen to the users and their feeling about the software and support.

I thank you guys for being persistent here with the TOS and its compliance.  It has definitely made me look at these "sale" posts in a completely different way.

IK Obi - I think you would probably provide significant value if you just stick to support questions rather than trying to "hock your wares" (in my opinion).

i say once one is in,then they'll all be here posting their stuff for sale.
i have no personal problems with you i just think its wrong for you to be the exception.
what about all those other vendors out there that would die to have there posts in here feeding off  cakewalk users..
but you seem to be the exception?
for everyone that doesnt see this, how would you feel having to sift through threads and threads looking for a person with some helpful info or maybe needing help because there was just piles and piles of spam in here?

i leave you with this.
if it happens someday, blaim yourself then think about all the negetive things youve said to the people trying to keep spam out of here.
not because were bored, but because someday our dear forum will be a yard sale.

To be honest Jon, fortunate for me I became familiar with some wonderful products from IK before I ever noticed what was going on here. In my opinion Miroslav Philharmonic, Amplatube Fender, ARC and recently Sonic Synth2 are among my favorite plugs and I have the upmost confidence that IK's support team will get everyone up and running after the sale. So much traffic right now is probably weighing heavily on them now.

As for Obi I usually like him for the most part but it seems you have a way to get under his skin with your candid representation of the facts. I sincerely hope he finds a better way of dealing with adversity. Bouy, if you’re not a barrister you should have been.

Thanks for your thoughts and opinions on the matter. Seems like I'll just stop posting our promos and sales here then. @ GuitarTrek, try clearing your chace and cookies. It should be working now. Every once in a while it gets a little swamped with traffic.

Ok report the infraction, and let the moderators handle it.  the ad was nowhere near as disturbing than watching Jonbouy and his flock of admires, reiterate all that redundant, misguided passion for the TOS.

Hey Obi,

As an IK user, I'm already subscribed to your email newsletter. Which btw was a bit late on announcing the availability of your updated iPad apps. Fortunately, found out about it on my own.

So, no need to spam here.

Which reminds me, I posted some FYIs over in the SoS forums about your Amplitude for iPad app update as soon as it was released.

So, the very least you could do is to offer me free credit on the in-app MIDI upgrade purchase, and maybe on a few fx too, seeing as how I've been doing your job for free.

That's cute, you think that is my whole job. Like this is everything I do. I post on the Cakewalk forums because I LIKE IT here. Though that seems to be changing quickly. I have to wait til I am done with my other responsibilities before posting and visiting places I enjoy. Either way, thanks for your support. We appreciate it.

Oh I'm sure you keep busy. I was being nice.

Ok, here's something else for you to do:

How come your iRig iPad analog guitar interface sounds so poor (low volume, distortion, feedback) compared to other such devices like Tascam's iXZ?

Fortunately, since your iPad app now works with dock devices there is no need to use an analog interface any more, but I can't sell my iRig on with a clear conscience knowing how crappy it actually is.

Now, get busy!
