    OBI - Quick question here.

I own (and DIG) SVX but I couldn't help notice that it's listed as a legacy product in AT. Hopefully it's not going anywhere anytime soon, right?

I have IK's newer models as well (the Fender TBP-1 is terrific) but I can't imagine having to give up on the SVX models - they're my go to models.

The way I understand it, the Legacy section in the preset menu is just a repository for presets that were created prior to AT 3.0. I have SVX and Fender presets in the Legacy section from the original product installs. When you install AT 3, it looks for existing products and places all your pre-3.0 presets in the Legacy section. 3.0+ presets appear in the Collections section. The AT 3 install includes 3.0 presets for SVX and Fender if you already have those products installed. In other words, you'll see presets for SVX and Fender in both the Legacy and Collections sections. BTW, Legacy presets can't be seen in the AT plugin in Sonar.

It has to do more with the release times. We have since changed a lot and introduced the Custom Shop. Stuff before it are legacy, stuff after it are not. No need to worry about us discontinuing it. I personally LOVE Ampeg SVX. :)

Thanks! AmpliTube Fender and SVX are the AmpliTube's that made me fall in love with IK's guitar possibilities! I had a Pod, Pod XT, Pod XT Live, DigiTech RP-250 and a small V-Amp. Used them all live, After trying AmpliTube Fender and the StealthPedal I sold all of the modelers and haven't looked back since!

Thanks! I do try and I do love these boards. They make me laugh more often than not and I am passionate about IK products. I was BEFORE I worked for IK by writing reviews on my personal blogs for products I liked. IK was one of my first reviews and still make the best stuff out IMO.

When the tension escalated a few months ago, I've asked the moderators if they could do something about it. Either come out and give their blessings or ask Obi to stop posting here (I personally wouldn't want that).

Now, that is assuming that moderators weren't aware of the situation - but they obviously were.

    Nothing happened.

    Silence implies consent.

I think the type of "spamming" that is most offensive is a robotic mass dumping of information.

IMO, Obi is not injecting himself in such a manner, but is instead offering a dialogue that leads to conversation, questions and answers. This is not offensive, but useful conversation resulting in a developing dialogue that many people are genuinely interested in.

It is quite clear that may people are benefiting from these conversations with Obi, and desire to have him respond to their questions.

Those that find this dialogue offensive are in the vast minority, and can easily ignore the conversation by  quite simply  AVOIDING the thread altogether.[Is that easy, or what?]

Perhaps, as on other forums, there could be a dedicated place for such personal discussions as these that allow software companies to more intimately converse with users to answer questions and make simple announcements about products. Instead of guessing about what is happening we might instead know what is happening, and make our decisions based on informed conversation rather than mere speculation.

I agree, it's great when Obi joins in a debate on a product that somebody has brought up in the first place.

However when he spams it is spamming.  He's also been found to be a bit evasive when there is an otherwise valid criticism of a particular item that he may be touting, which adds an element of bias to his input.

I find it better lately to avoid the inevitable nastiness that seems to result of somebody merely pointing out what the TOS says when it is being disregarded and simply report the violation when it happens.

Maybe some clarity ultimately will be achieved that way.

Perhaps think of populating the IK forums with questions about Sonar, maybe Brandon will turn up to answer them for you if visiting the vendors own forum is a difficulty when trying to glean product specific information.

    You may be surprised there.

I note this thread had already been reported to a moderator before I did.  I get many PM's expressing support from people that don't want to run the gauntlet of nastiness that spews forth whenever anyone brings it up, but feel exactly the same way.

Scott doesn't spam he answers questions people firstly raise about his book, which also has been an official product available in the Cakewalk store for many years, in fact Obi is the ONLY regular spammer here aside from a small patch vendor whose posts don't attract much attention but also get reported as spam anyway.

Thanks for the support. I do my part on these forums and even recommend other companies products when it fits the OPs needs. From audio interfaces to hardware. I don't mean to intrude and by all means I left for a while but people were still asking for my presence. Though a few may not agree with me posting here I don't understand why they take time to discredit me, I would think it'd make more sense to ignore me. To each their own, I just wanted to share this deal. Ampeg SVX for under $50 and AmpliTube Fender for under $100 is a steal and the first guitar/bass programs from IK that I tried. I still use them all the time too. :)

As I stated in a earlier post, spammers (you) either haven't read, don't understand or choose to disregard the ToS. Which one is it? I'm guessing the latter. And please tell me, how would blatant spam be dealt with at the IK forum? You and I know the answer to that. The reason we don't ignore you, is to do so would condone your behavior.

Those that find this dialogue offensive are in the vast minority,

    You may be surprised there.

I note this thread had already been reported to a moderator before I did.  I get many PM's expressing support from people that don't want to run the gauntlet of nastiness that spews forth whenever anyone brings it up, but feel exactly the same way.
Perhaps their are more people that find this simple dialogue offensive. That should be taken into account.

But this is the software forum, and we are frequently talking about software of all types beyond what Cakewalk offers. I think that it might serve everyone better if another forum category were offered simply to announce only effects and VST plugs and discuss them [not other DAWs]. We do sometimes have other software vendors and developers on the forum from time to time, and it does offer some useful conversation, as I'm sure you'll agree. There is always room for a compromise that will please everyone, more or less. Don't you think so, Jon?

Absolutely, there are plenty of company representatives on the forum that will join in and enlighten an already existing conversation on one of their products.

It is a shame that Obi is the only one of those that goes full out starting spam threads such as this one, he also likes to play to the divide and actually cause trouble as well and then plays the role of hapless victim and persecuted forum good guy.  Then he says he's 'back by popular demand'...ROFL.  'Back'?  Who sent him away?  Did he ever leave?

The people that are reacting to it by flagging this up are not the villains, look to the source.  This forum has stayed clean over the years by having a no advertising policy, you only have to look at boards that are over-run with spam now because somebody let them slide in the first place.

This is an awesome place for peers to share their experience with others regarding third party apps, it's the only place specifically for Cakewalk users.  I'm not going to stand by and let some liberty taking touter screw it up without saying something about it.

Obi is free to fall into line at any time just like the rest of the vendors that frequent and contribute to this board, HE chooses to continue to cross the line as this thread clearly shows.

all i saw, is what the moderators probally saw ..60% OFF Ampeg SVX.. WOWW!! whether the post was an ad/spam or whatever. it was a nice heads up and good lookin out. and it is very relative to alot of members..

you self-appointed forum hall monitors kill me man. if the moderators didnt concern themselves with the thread, then theres no need to police and tattle tale on grown people on the Non cakewalk Software forum. no disrepect, it just seems so petty.
