You guys do realize that if CW were to switch to another forum package, all your post counts would be reset to zero, right?

I don't know how that would work, bitflipper, because our post count and date of forum membership carried over from the forum software we had before we got this new forum software. iirc, that is the deal. We only had this new forum software for about a year or so. Do you think you got those 12000+ post since we had this new forum software? Think about it?

I know I didn't make my 2000+ posts in just the short time we've been using this new forum software, although some members have raised their posts counts into the thousands in a relatively short period of time.

It's true that some of the old forum data did get imported into the new database, such as user profiles that include post count. But take this reality check: try to find the first post you ever made on the forum in 2003. Or for that matter, anything posted before 2009.

Data import is something I've been doing on a regular basis for 20 years, and I can tell you that not all data can always be imported, and there are some data sources that are just too alien to import from at all (or at least, not without a great deal of effort).

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Here's one I wrote in June of 2006, I found this in about 2 minutes, I might could find one a little older if I searched longer.  I joined in March of 2006, so this one is almost as old as it can be.

Please fix it.  As Brandon has heard (more than he'd probably like) in the "Buss" thread there are myriad problems with the forum software.  Please relate your horror stories here...and post your pictorial examples (Strammy).  If you ARE NOT having ANY troubles with using the forum then say so.  And, more likely, if you are...say so as well.  And please outline in detail your exact gripes.  But KEEP IT CIVIL...the last thing we need is for the admins to move this to Siberia...er...the Coffee House (shudder)!!!!

What's wrong with the forum software? I have never had a single problem with it.

The people with problems are the ones who use it for the bells and whistles with midi and soft sythns - not the people who use it just as a word processing forum -

As far as I can see, all the old posts are still there - just click on From The Start in the Time Filter at the bottom of a forum index page.

Hey bit,

What is this post count you refer to and how can it be used?

Will I get a free mug or software if I post a lot?

Is there any advantage to having lots of posts?

Does any of this matter?

Forum Software: You keep using those words. I don't think they mean what you think they mean.

I hear you, bitflipper. Let's hope for the best, in the case that we get a new forum software that's more likable. :)

LOL Those words are very similar to words from a scene from the Princess Bride. A real funny and good movie. :)
