I dunno. Every time I've saved something it's generated a thumbnail.

I have CCC set to the 24 hour interval, I haven't started it since last update (1.1.1.20) When I opened CCC it showed no updates available, just a matter of clicking the 'check now' or whatever it is, and the updates showed, Platinum, core plugins and Local Doc's.

As usual installation was smooth and painless, I really like the new start screen and all that is associated with it, I even like the tips, and not only do you get tips, but little ditties like this

"Music expresses that which cannot be said, and on which it is impossible to be silent." - Victor Hugo
Nice, I like that, looking forward to more Doesn't seem to make much of a difference on start up, even if it was a second or to it wouldn't be an issue to me, that doesn't bother me, 30 to 60 seconds might bother me though.

The thumbnails work fine, as has been said, just save the project, and there it is. Would love a small audio snippet on mouse over, for people like me who have a good few projects imaginatively titled such as Song 13, song 24 etc   that would be awesome

The little notifications/news thingy up in the right hand corner is fine, to me very unobtrusive, reading some comments around the place I had a picture in my mind of something that jumped out and smacked me in the face saying 'here I am, read me'. I like it.

Looking forward to checking out all the other stuff, templates etc.

Great stuff, thanks all

I can't figure out how to disable the new start screen?

Preferences- File- Advanced - Show Start Screen at Launch

Bypassing the Start Screen

If you’re in a hurry, type Ctrl+N to open the favorite template immediately, without seeing the Start Screen first. However, this requires creating a project folder manually when you save; see New Preferences for details.

New Preferences

You can control SONAR’s behavior when starts up with additional preferences under Preferences > File > Advanced.
  • To open SONAR to an empty project and choose what you want from the Start Screen, uncheck “On Startup Load Basic Template” and check “Show Start Screen on Launch.” This provides the greatest flexibility on startup.
  • To always open with your favorite template and bypass the Start Screen, check “On Startup Load Basic Template” and uncheck “Show Start Screen on Launch.” Because you don’t have to name the project, this offers the fastest way to get started if you usually start with a template. However, note that in this case file management is under Windows and not SONAR, so to create a per-project folder you’ll need to create a folder and choose it when saving. This is also the case if you create a new project by typing Ctrl+N.

Can no longer bounce to tracks or export audio without Sonar Platinum crashing. Rolling back  Hopkinton to previous version.

Works like a gem and I am loving it...it is very organised and simple to use...This has really made my day!

I do not have to go looking for songs to review them or to click every song to find out what it is. I can easily see and detect them. I can tag the songs I am working on or put a list of songs that need mixing together aswell as work on new projects and finish them and move them along. I can now focus on starting and finishing a project, locating it and sorting out a more intuitive way to work. It is great!

I really like the new start screen, but does it need to reappear once a project has been loaded ?...

1. Open Sonar
2. Select the desired project
3. Project loads
4. The start screen reappears
5. Cancel the start screen
6. Get down to some music

(Apologies if this point has already been addressed)

Apart from this minor niggle, Sonar Platinum still loads in around 4 secs :-)

(Hopkinton) Sonar stops responding when I try to add a new track.

I was working on a project since morning in (Gloucestor), all was well.
Upgraded to (Hopkinton) during lunchtime, after that could not proceed any further with the project.
Sonar stops responding after some time...

...Update......
Problem Solved. (it worked just fine the next day I started working on it...)
Hopkinton working great now....

Thanks bakers! I like the start screen. Mastering and mixing templates are cool too. And I just noticed that you can now hide the pro channel. When did you guys do that???? I like the pro channel myself, but I remember reading that some people preferred to work without it. So great job guys for listening to your customers!

FWIW I have this problem too. I left my setting to check after 24 hours. However, it will never check. It didn't work on Windows 8.1 nor Windows 10. It is an easy workaround for me as I only need to go to settings and press the "check now" button.

I would like to give you specifics but I don't know what you need to know. It is a very minor issue for me but maybe not for others.

Thanks guys. So, it's not so much the [Check Now] button that is failing to fetch, but more so that it's just not respecting the interval.

If you don't mind and you're up for it, I'll reach out over PM and see if I can get some more details from your systems.

I am seeing this also. I've seen unpredictable display of the normal "File-Open" dialog, also, when using the "Open Project" button on the start screen.

So far, nothing too annoying. It would not surprise me if there were a minor bug here. I'll try and come up with a reproduceable series of steps.

Hi Beeps...

Yeah, it's a slowly changing scenario...

In the past, we needed every ounce of power for the DAW and all the scheduled things such as checking for updates drain power and can happen at less than optimum times...

But as PC power continues to increase and bandwidth as well, permit many people to allow these smaller drains with no hindrance to work...

I myself keep them off on most of my machines but I've begun to allow a little here and there and finding no problems...

So one day soon (?) we'll all be able to enjoy these conveniences... ;-)

Hi Gang!

For those of us not using CCC or similar situations...

Can anyone please post a list of which files to update for this (Hop) release?

I downloaded SPlat and plugins update as well as the local docs.

Are there other items updated this time?

Many thanks!

Happy Sonaring!

Hi I haven't seen anyone having the problem I'm having, My start screen is completely blank, No recent project icons, no templates but if I click on existing projects my folder comes up. The start screen was working fine for the first few times I was opening and closing projects, I'm wondering do you have to be connected to the internet for it to work? I only connect my Daw computer for updates. I really like the start screen and would love to use it, also I'm worried about the templates I have created not being available.
Thanks Guys,
Andrew

I am having the identical problem.  My system is off line also.

I've got to do some more investigating and hopefully I will find the problem.  However I have a ton of things going on now so it may be a little while before I can start.

The reason people say the vinyl sounds better is because the music was better.

As all of the SONAR releases to date are all-inclusive, I am curious by the 57MB jump (17%) in download size. Is the new start screen adding that much?

ASUS ROG Maximus X Hero (Wi-Fi AC), i7-8700k, 16GB RAM, GTX-1070Ti, Win 10 Pro, Saffire PRO 24 DSP, A-300 PRO, plus numerous gadgets and gizmos that make or manipulate sound in some way.

I wish more people would read the release eZine, many of the questions posed in the forum after release are answered in there.

Although I had looked at the update summary page, I realized this is not the same as the "release eZine." But it was quite the adventure trying to find the eZine. Searching knowledge base for "eZine" yields links to some for earlier release eZines but not the most recent one (yet). The link on the summary page is disguised as "based on" a pdf file, but no mention of the term "eZine" there.

The eZines have great information. I suggest having someone make an easy-to-find page with direct links to all the eZines, or else have a sticky link near the top of the forum with the collection of those links.

Over time it might be advantageous to add an annual summary eZine that lists all the improvements made from January through December. Could be a useful marketing tool as well as a useful bit of reference information.

I feel for you both; Craig for his long time frustration that many don't read his eZine page and rhWheeler for his difficulty with locating it.  Many of us have experienced problems with its location and have suggested a more prominent presence.  It is one of those "Once you know where it is, you know where it is"  but until you finally learn where CW is putting it, the eZine remains much like a "Holy Grail" of useful information.

One suggestion is that it gain prominence in the list of forums at http://forum.cakewalk.com/ . It is certainly as useful as any forum.

Cheers
