August SONAR "Hopkinton" now available

Hiya, Bill.
I'll be the arse to ask it. Can we disable the new Startscreen from hunting for new notifications? If so how? Doesn't seem to be in the Ezine.
I guess if that is not (currently possible) can we get a description of how and when it searches for such notifications?
Everything else looks fine and for me the new start screen will be an improvement over the old one.

Each time it opens, the Start Screen says "Hey Cakewalk, any news?" and displays said news and a "Quick Tip." We do send your serial number to know what news applies to you. Nothing weird or noteworthy happens here. If you are not connected to the internet, these won't be shown. Besides that, there is no way to prevent this without disabling the Start Screen completely. Fwiw, we won't drench you in notifications. At most you might see a new one weekly. Once you click to view it once, the little indicator will go away.

Thanks, Bill. I very much appreciate that (seriously that is exactly the info I needed).
I'll leave it at that after suggesting that an option be added that can disable (or suspend until activated with a convenient button) the call out for notifications without disabling the entire startscreen.
It really does all look useful though. Nicely done.

Hello, Bill, thank you for the Hopkinton update! ;-) Unfortunately, one apparent bug has come through: the new Start Screen doesn't support UTF, therefore, my older projects with non-ASCII characters in their names are shown with question marks and - more importantly - they cannot be even opened from the Start Screen due to the bad representation of the non-ASCII characters. The error message says: "C:\Cakewalk\Projects\Brouk%EF%BF%BDn%EF%BF%BD.cwp was not found." However, the mentioned file is really there and it can be opened in the original way (by means of the File menu). Best regards, Miloslav

I logged out and logged in and only seen a update for drum replacer I guest this was the update I never got for last month. I can't believe this.

Really need someone to provide some specifics for this to be verified & listed as something that actually does need to be fixed. We haven't been able to replicate it. To clarify for everyone, Command Center 1.1 has a setting for how often to check for updates that defaults to 24 hours. This means if you used Command Center within 24 hours of us releasing an update, then you will need to manually force the check by going to Command Center's settings page and clicking [Check Now] next to the Min Update Interval setting.

Did you go to Settings and click on Check Now? People complained about the CCC always checking to see if there was a new version available, so now it only checks periodically. Check Now forces it to check for updates. SONAR Platinum showed as green until I did that. [Edit: Sorry, posted while others were posting the same thing]

Last Gloucester update there were loads and loads of posts reporting it was not there in CCC. For some logging out/logging in was the only way to find it. For others going into settings and hitting update. It happened to me as well (had to log out/log in). So let's see if the issue persists and suggest keep watching the forums (of course many are trained now with what to do). Half the problem could be resolved by having the update button displayed on the initial screen rather than tucked away in settings IMHO. I'm wondering if the actual issue is something to do with multiple cloud based servers (speculation). Ta. (Edited for typo)

Hmm. What version is it listing for you in Command Center when you select SONAR Platinum? As a troubleshooting step, can you let me know what version you have listed when you visit http://www.cakewalk.com/my-account/products ? I can inform you of the location to wipe Command Center's cache, but truthfully to diagnose it fully we'd want to take the discussion offline since there is some system & user specific information we'd need to collect.

Hi, at first I couldn't access old projects from the start screen but restarted the computer and that fixed it. I opened up a project and worked fine, closed it and start screen came back on and opened a different project, I closed that and the start screen came back and it's blank, no recent projects, no templates although if I click open existing it opens up my files, any ideas what might be causing this? Really like the start screen and would love to have it working, especially to access my own templates I have.

I don't see the Hopinton upgrade in the CCC. I tried uninstalling the command center. I've reinstalled. It still shows 1.0. I've tried the check for updates 3 times and still nothing new. I still tsee version 1.0 even though I downloaded the newest version. I stuck. PLEASE HELP!!

Ok when I click check now I get a "Path Validation Error" massage it also say "32-bit VST Plugins and 64-bit VST Plugins Paths must be unique".
WTF do this mean and how can this be fix I hope Cakewalk got a download to fix this everything was going great and now this last month I didn't the updates and for got to email cakewalk and now this month no updates and cakewalk
knew it was a problem and did not notify any one they didn't notify me. What happen "CAKEWALK YOU LOST YOUR FIRE" ? COMMAND CENTER WAS SUPPOSE TO BE A GEAT THING?

FWIW I have this problem too. I left my setting to check after 24 hours. However, it will never check. It didn't work on Windows 8.1 nor Windows 10. It is an easy workaround for me as I only need to go to settings and press the "check now" button. I would like to give you specifics but I don't know what you need to know. It is a very minor issue for me but maybe not for others.

Where are the templates stored? I want my saved templates to show up as options in the start screen. Is that possible? Found it...disregard please.

In the eZine instructions on how to download Hopkinton, it says to make sure you updated to the V1.1 CCC that was released in July.

Go to CCC and click settings. Now check 32 bit and 64 bit file paths to see if the are the same or not and hopefully you will find WTF it means.. You could also check the VST file paths in Sonar preferences. Cheers
