^^^^They are similar as the KB article is "adapted" from the ezine. I think the info has to get into the KB as that's a more persistent form. In the future no one would ever be able to find feature info if it were only back in some ezine somewhere. Although anything of any import had better make its way into the product doc!

I like the new start screen! Very nice!

Would be much nicer if it could handle non-English characters in file names or paths (like the File menu can). Now it’s pretty much useless for us making music with titles in other languages.

Better check all your file paths in Sonar preferences and CCC settings.

They all look as they should.
I was wondering if this is caused by the problem with start menu not finding the correct path to my projects. So checking this out I selected a project that didn't have a tick in the path or the name. I opened it from Existing Projects and saved it. Then closed it. When the start menu appeared I reopened it with out a problem. I then pinned it. I closed Sonar down and reopened it and I was able to unpin the project.
But the icon is still just black.
End result, the problem with the path not found also seems to be causing the unpin problem on those projects.

This is because opening from the start menu does not work if there is an apostrophe in the path or filename. I have the same problem and reported it in the problem reporter. I would suggest you do the same. THis is my trouble ticket number if you want to reference it in your report. CWBRN-35006.

I did as well back on the 27th,

On trying to use the latest Hopkinton update, in Command Centre I noticed I do not appear to have ANY of the previous updates for my Sonar Platinum either. I have paid in advance until Feb 2016 so do not understand why. Can you help please?

Can you plz fix the path problem in the last projects with non english characters like "ö"? Since you can't disable the start screen it's very annoying to always close it manually.

Actually, you can disable the start screen. Go to Edit -> Preferences (Advanced) -> File -> Advanced -> Untick ”Show Start Screen on Launch”.

OK.  Sorry if this has been covered already.  I searched for about a half hour last night and again this morning for solutions and I still can't find anything that works.

I skipped the "G" update and now want to update to Platinum "Hopkinton".  When I open CCC it says I am up to date on both my desktop and my laptop.  What I have tried:
  • selecting the gear at the top of the page and then selecting "Check Now".  It scans and says everything is up to date.
  • Logging out and logging back in then repeating the step above.  Same result.
  • Reinstalling CCC and repeating steps above, no change.
I am obviously missing something.  Any suggestions for how to get my update to work?

TIA!!

I put this on its own thread, but this seems more appropriate. When I turn on Command Center there are lists of products I've mostly already downloaded. The monthly updates don't appear on it. There is nothing to indicate where to go for Platinum as opposed to other upgrades. There is nothing saying Hopkinton or any of the other updates. I hunt the website and haven't found any place to download the upgrades. So far this monthly update system sucks for me.
Is there some kind of secret location? Is my Command Center defective? How do I get what I paid for?
Cakewalk is not rocking for me.

I like how the Version designation (in this case Hopkinton) is now shown in the "About Sonar" skyline splash. Before this I was not always certain which version I was on.

Is there any way to revert to the older start menu and is it configurable in any way? In the new one,  I can't see the full names of any of my tracks so have to guess.  Literally every single one of them wraps to two lines yet still has the ellipse  (...) within the now partially-displayed name. A simple list worked just fine (and still does in the "File" dropdown of recent tracks - the entire name shows for all of them there).

I'm not sure why every software designer has gone to these oversized tiles that show less info in more space these days.  I estimate 26 square inches of screen real estate are used and yet can't display the the most basic info - the full name of 8 tracks.  I can do without the 8 huge identical "CWP" icons to know that the recent files in my Sonar history are Sonar projects.

Works like a gem and I am loving it...it is very organised and simple to use...This has really made my day!

I do not have to go looking for songs to review them or to click every song to find out what it is. I can easily see and detect them. I can tag the songs I am working on or put a list of songs that need mixing together aswell as work on new projects and finish them and move them along. I can now focus on starting and finishing a project, locating it and sorting out a more intuitive way to work. It is great!

While I think the Start Screen has some growing up to do, you can see more than eight tiles by scrolling down.   Not obvious, I know, but available.

Agreed on the scrolling, but that just brings up the point that scrolling is even necessary to display the partial names of more than a handful projects in that huge space.  Even Windows folders dating back to the early 2000's have given you the options of showing your choice of display - list, details, small icon, huge icon, etc.  instead of deciding "Huge Icon" is what everyone wants.  I know this is a small issue, but design decisions that make things less functional under the guise of "improvement" drive me nuts.

Okay, I've redownloaded Command Center a couple times now, and it still doesn't seem to take me to any of the updates. So as nice as the monthly updates may be, they are beyond me because they aren't available.

I like it when software manufacturers make improvements, but really, what does it mean if the people who paid for them can't get them. This is ridiculous.

Re: August SONAR "Hopkinton" now available 2015/09/11 18:53:14 (permalink)
1. Open Command Center.
2. Click on the Gear (system) symbol toward the upper right.
3. Click on "Check Now."
4. The Command Center's bottom strip should show "checking for Updates" and names of installed products will flash by.
5. If this isn't happening, then your computer is not connected to the internet or there is some other serious problem that will not allow updating. Call tech support. If what's described in step 4 is happening, proceed.
6. Scroll down to where you see "SONAR Platinum" on the left side with the list of installed products.
7. Click on SONAR Platinum and wait a couple seconds. You should see something like this:

8. Click on Update. The strip along the bottom will show "Downloading." When it reaches 100%, Setup and Installation will begin.
9. When these are done, the strip along the bottom will say your installation is complete, and ask you to click to continue.
10. The Command Center will check the product status again. After it's done, you'll see a screen like the one above but it will have the option to Launch.
11. Click on Launch, and SONAR starts up.

If this isn't what happens, describe what does happens when you reach the step where things go off the rails.

My issue was the same error of VST plugin folders, and the Check Now button did nothing.

However, my issue was resolved simply by clicking the "Connected Products" link above the list. Voila! I was able to check for updates and find the latest Sonar.
