I've never done a project without PX-64 on at least 5 drum tracks ... 5 minimum ... and never once had this happen in 8.5.3. yep, in 8.5.3 the PX-64 works fine, but there's an issue with the VX-64 in 8.5.3. but not always

berlymahn I have a feeling that X1 is not saving the plug in settings with the project. So you have to start over each time. Also, the plug in setting (software dependent) may not offer the settings to SONAR to be saved. Either way, it's a pain to go back in and reset things. So yeah, save the preset if possible. Saving as preset doesn't matter for this issue. The dials remain where you left them, the sound (when you first fire up the project) is just off. Just opening the PX-64 seems to restore the sound for me (for that single session). But that's not a fix.

It's not happening with me. I've tried it several different ways, and I followed your instructions exactly dime. I didn't get a *crappy* sound. But I did notice some strange behavior. On the SS it showed the lo toms in the name of the notes, but when I moved it up and down, it changed to a B, and the next to a Bb and so on. And also I put notes on the third beat that wouldn't play when I hit playback, but when I bounced it to a track there was all the hits! Also when I started the sequence, the meters in P64 looked like they only registered the very first hit then die down even though there is hits still being made! Weird. I use p64 a lot. I will be watching this thred to see what others find out.

With how many people this seems to affect, I'm surprised it hasn't been brought up before (unless I missed it somewhere...). Maybe I'm just one of the few who uses SD3 and PX-64 to this degree...?

I hadn't used it in X1 until this thread came up. Unfortunately I tried it and it's unusable because of the pops and clicks, same as what Windsurfer25x is hearing on his system. It's odd, but the more I tinker with it, the worse it seems to get. I'm wiping my PC clean and going back to 8.5.3 only while I wait for the X1b patch. Not a big deal because I have images to restore from. Have you sent in a bug report?

Yes, I have. At first, they said they couldnt replicate the problem, and told me to try reinstalling the plugin. I replied with the prior listed method to replicate the problem, and have not heard back since... I'm hoping that means the issue has been elevated to higher-ups! *fingers crossed*

I wonder if I should send a report too? Man, I feel bad for doing it, I've sent in 3 or 4 now, can't remember, I'm losing track of them. :( I found a bug in Session Drummer I reported the other day.

Interesting stuff fellas.. an annoying issue however. It prolly helps nought but on the reload of a project here after going to X1, a song I have heard a zillion times definitely sounded wrong. Quite average and 'digital' aka harsh. I went hunting and found the spectrum analyzer plug to be causing the weirdness. End result here is that I am sure my video card is no longer fit for audio service since going all 64bit as no more updated drivers are available etc... it 'appears' that screen refresh/update related activities are the cause of my sole unrest with the DAW. I can get other weird noises now if I get real busy on the screen so I is swapping video card asap. I suspect this may be all very unrelated to your thread boys but the mention of the VX-64 plug got me interested as that is what I first thought was the cause in my case until turning shrinking the spectrum plug in off. Really hope this gets sorted for you Dime.

FYI for those who missed it back on page 1: I have a problem report confirmed and Submitted to Development. I don't know if it will be fixed in X1b, but they've acknowledged the problem so there's not much point in thrashing around on this any more.

Did you close PX64 before exiting the project and then LEAVE it closed when you re-open the project and hit play? I don't know if it's system specific at all, but this is my setup: Windows 7 64-bit SONAR X1a 32-bit Cakewalk UA-1G interface

brundlefly I don't know, I see you're on Vista. I suppose it could be specific to Win7. What's the peak output level on the Snare Top track? On this machine which is my home PC and try out machine, I am on Vista. And on my Vista machine; I unpacked the "Floating" demo. Saved it as a project. Opened it back up and looked at the "Snare Top" trk and it was riding around -15db -20db but nothing even close to Peaking/clippping. I never messed with any buttons or opened P64 at this point. I then opened P64 looked at the settings (did not move or touch anything), closed it, saved project, close X1, Opened X1, loaded the saved "Floating" project, and the Snare Top still was not peaking at all. I have done this several times to make sure I was correct. It's not happening on this machine. As I said before, I use this plug a lot and am starting to get to know how to use it really well. So this thread caught my attention. Lets keep working on this and see what we can find out.

Here's another example of this bug that you all can (probably) replicate: 1) Start an empty project in X1. 2) Insert an instance of Session Drummer 3, and load the Steven Slate Sizzle Kit Dry. 3) Run the Step Sequencer from SD3, and insert a few hits from the Bass Drum (note 36). 4) Apply the PX-64 to the bass drum's instrument track, and adjust the following values to these custom parameters: - Activate the Shaper, adjust the Attack to 107.2%, the Weight to 77.9%, the Decay to 66.9%, and the first Color to 46.0 - Activate the Equalizer, adjust the Low Level to -2.6dB, and the High Level to 4.6dB 5) CLOSE PX-64 and listen to the affected drum, hear how it sounds. 6) Save the project, and close X1. 7) Restart X1 and re-open the project, LEAVING PX-64 CLOSED. 8) Press Play and hear how poppy the drum sounds. 9) Now simply open the bass drum's instance of PX-64 and notice that the sound goes back to normal. I'm in back-and-forth contact with tech support right now over the issue, but they're (so far) unable to replicate the problem. But seeing how many of you have already experienced it as well, I know it's not just me. I'd really hope this gets fixed up in the next patch, but I have a fear that we'll be SOL on the matter =P

REALLY hope you get this fixed dime but I cannot duplicate your problem on my system. No perceptible sound difference when I open the project with PX64 closed, then opening the PX64. Sound the same here. I hope they find something - you've been chasing this for a while. Hope for X1b. ( I'm going to play around a little more to see if I can get it to misbehave.)

But seeing how many of you have already experienced it as well, I know it's not just me. That's weird. As mentioned a couple times already, I've got a CWBRN in Submitted to Development status. That shouldn't happen unless they've been able to replicate it. Tell your tech support contact to checkout CWBRN-3465.

Couldn't say for sure, of course, but our systems are different enough to suspect one component or another. Do you have access to another sound card you might try? Really thrashing here, and as you mentioned, and as Brundle has reported, SOMETHING has been submitted to the Bakers and the suggestion you refer to Brundle's bug report number seems like sound advice. Others are having the problems as well so not much more can be done at this point I'm thinkin'.

Well, I don't know if the sound card/interface is really the culprit, as the change is VISIBLE on the volume meters. When I set up the PX-64 settings originally, the meter levels dont peak higher than around 75%. When I restart the project (before opening PX-64) and hit play, the meters go straight to red. So I'm not sure if a different interface would really make a difference. Clearly others on here with different audio cards are experiencing the issue also, so... I dunno.
