Might as well delete these first 2 pages as it was all speculation and mostly wrong.

I foresee SONAR becoming a full on subscription (only) offering and I would not be surprised if it becomes web based (only) too.

Very interesting. While still at Gibson I set up a meeting between Bandlab and Alex Westner because I thought there could be a mutually advantageous partnership - I didn't think Momentum would get off the ground but could possibly fit into Bandlab's social media/web aspect, while for Bandlab, they could offer Sonar as the next step up for those in their customer base who wanted to get further into music. Alex didn't agree with me, so nothing came of it.

You approached me about BandLab before Momentum even launched, and I saw BandLab as Momentum's biggest direct competitor. Therefore, I didn't think it was prudent to get into a partnership with them without having gotten our own ducks in a row first. I thought it was too soon to get into it with them.

Can we lock this thread as Meng has started a new stickie, and before Craig writes 15 paragraphs in response to Alex's one

I think that each of these takes on the meeting are of equally merit.  I'm sure it was a time in which much was happening very quickly and there wasn't a lot of certainty.  I appreciate that you guys are open about the discussion, but I also believe that moment has passed and we have to grab the opportunity afforded the product and the people associated with it.

Thank you both for your enduring commitment to this product and the community.

Congratulations to everyone involved! I'm so happy to see this wonderful product (which I'm proud to have helped build), carry on.

Thanks Ron Cakewalk owes a lot to you. I still remember sitting at AES in 1997 sketching a draft of the audio engine with you in a notebook :)
