I'm off work today, but I don't have Amplitube. Checking that the scanner is looking in the right place would be my next suggestion, but Beagle beat me to it.

Beagle, I meant no disrespect. I changed the title just in case folks stopped stepping in since the original question had been answered. Used caps to draw attention, added the dumb smiley to show the caps were not meant as a yell. I know...so much lost in translation. My response with the "dang it" was meant as light hearted as it would be if somebody actually used "dang it" instead of "damn it." I apologize to all extremes if anything came across otherwise. This is proving to being one of the most helpful forums I have encountered, and I don't wish to piss you folks off. Now, I will read what has been written. I just wanted to post this right away so nobody thought I was being a jerk. Just looked. I do indeed have folders for Amplitude and Sound Center, but there are no .dll files anywhere in them. In fact, in the Sound Center folder all that exists are a read me file and the uninstall file. This is weird.

no worries, carl! I didn't think you were being a jerk - just worried you were being a little impatient! sometimes people come in the forum expecting to be "served" immediately like they were in the drive thru of mickey d's or something. usually those are the very young who have no sense of waiting on anything - in our immediate gratification society that we've given to them.

Ok - don't panic yet. your windows explorer settings may be set up so that you don't see "system files" and if that's the case (which it is by default because Micro$oft in their ultimate wisdom knows that 99% of users don't need to see those files so they can't "screw" with them). you can either turn on the settings in explorer to see them, or just assume they're there and add those folders to the list anyway and scan anyway.

No, I am cool with waiting. I will admit, though, that when I sent off the "help" request to Cakewalk my heart sank when I saw "most questions are answered in two business days." I instantly realized mine would probably NOT be one of those "most," and I bet that nobody has ever met one of those "most." I can see the system files. I can find the .dll in every single other folder that they exist in. My thinking is that I have something on this computer that is causing a confliction. Or, there was an error the first time, and when I rebooted it, the Amplitude settings held with what was there prior, as I think that box indicates it will do to the program. I'm also wondering if when I uninstalled maybe the Amplitude portion was never uninstalled, as it does have it's own uninstall file. I can't remember if I did uninstall both. Of course neither of these answer just where the heck my sound center might be. :)

personally, I would do this - in this order: 1) add the 2 folders to the scan list and scan them. see if the problem goes away. 2) if that didn't work, then I'd do a custom installation from the disk (choose custom installation when prompted after starting the install) when you get to the options of the custom install - install ONLY the amplitube and soundcenter reinstalling amplitube might cause you to have to re-authorize it. be careful of that because IK only allows 4 or 6 authorizations before they say you can't authorize it any more. I don't know why they do that. IK is not one of my favorite companies.

The DLL files might be hiding in program files>cakewalk>vstplugins that is where a large number of mine are located. When you find it, just add it's location to the scanner and rescan...or copy it into the vstplugins folder and rescan it one time.

So do a reinstall without uninstalling first, and just pick those? I'll give that a whirl. I'm stepping out for a few hours, but I will try that as soon as I get home. Thanks!

If you did a reinstall already chances are good everything you need is there... you just need to point MC to the plug in DLL if a reinstall doesn't change anything , it's probably there, just redirect it.

oh...my...good...lord!!! This is driving me crazy. These files are nowhere on here, but I can see them extract, and I seem them long enough to write down part of the name...but they are not here. I can't even find the path that I am shown. I see it putting a Cakewalk Sound Center.exe on my computer, but I do a search for that and it finds nothing. This is really frustrating. This is a Windows 7 machine, by the way. Anybody know of tricks that are needed with this OS?

Carl - take a deep breath, buddy! You're kind of a high strung fella aren't you? this is where cakewalk soundcenter is installed on my win7 machine: C:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\Vstplugins\Cakewalk Sound Center I'm still looking for where the amplitube dll is. i'll get back to you soon.

ok - amplitube is here -but this is on my winxp system, so I'm not sure if it's supposed to be program files or program files (x86): c:\program files\vstplugins\AmpliTubeXGEAR.dll add those two folders: c:\program files\vstplugins\ C:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\Vstplugins\Cakewalk Sound Center to the scan folder list. make sure they show up in the list! then hit the scan button. if that doesn't get both of them, then try c:\program files (x86)\vstplugins\ and scan again.

c:\program files\vstplugins\AmpliTubeXGEAR.dll - This I do not have c:\program files\vstplugins\ - This I do not have C:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\Vstplugins\Cakewalk Sound Center - Nor do I have this. In fact, the alarming thing I am seeing is that in my Vstplugins, all I have is "Stuidio Instruments," and in that is only SI-Drum kit. As for my being high strung...you have no idea! LOL! I drive people crazy. But I am never mean, I just run off on mad tangents that come down to my rambling on and on and on.

I have no doubts that you're not mean! I am sure you're a great guy - but I would not allow you to have any caffiene drinks if I were around you all the time! ok - try this. put your MC5 DVD in the drive. don't let it run by itself. if it starts the program by itself, cancel it. then use windows to navigate to the drive and explore the disk. then look for the INSTALL or SETUP program - sorry - I can't find my MC5 disk to know exactly what it's called or where it is. it's probably on the root directory of that disk and it's probably called SETUP, but I don't know for certain. RIGHT CLICK on the file and choose RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR I think it will ask you for your password for your account - put in your password. then try installing again. just go ahead and reinstall the whole thing. you might have to re-register MC and amplitube again when we get that far. but I think the problem is UAC in windows 7. I can tell you how to turn it off completely if you want, which is what I did because it drove me batty. but this might be good enough if you just want to do this.

I would try just installing it without uninstalling first, if that doesn't work then go back and uninistall and try again, but I doubt it will be necessary to uninstall first. mark - I don't think it's that he can't see them, I think that it's not installing them because of UAC. we've seen this before.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! YYYYYYIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! I did the reinstall as suggested by Beagle, and sat and stared at the screen to see where everything went! Turns out my computer was making a folder called MTStudio and dumping the .dll files there. I am not sure if they were doing that all along, but that is where they went to this time. So, I did the thing with the global part, and had it look there, and lo-and-behold, I NOW HAVE AMPLITUBE AND SOUND CENTER!!! Thanks guys, I could never have figured this out without your help. O.K., a couple of second delay in guitar, and noise, that is the latency issue, right? I did register everything, or so I thought. I am going to check back earlier in the thread and see what you told me to do with that.

With a brand new install amplitude runs good ...for 30 days(?) then drops back to demo mode until you register it. So if you have latency, you will need to adjust the latency settings a bit to get it low enough that it is not a problem for recording and playback. The amp sim latency is a bit different. see below.... I hate to keep referring to my system, but my rig's default settings worked perfectly fine, and I never had to make any adjustments. You may have to make some adjustments because every system is different. Some folks know that they must change the latency settings differently for recording vs playback with synths. Most of the time if you have latency in the DAW, a one time adjustment to the setting solves it. But once you figure out what your rig needs, that latency will go away. If I recall correctly, I also have (currently have) a slight delay when I use Amplitude on my guitar. It's a few milliseconds but it is noticeable, nothing big enough to throw off the playing but it is there and I can hear it. So.... it doesn't bother me, because I don't use any of the amp sims for guitar.

the delay is latency, bursts of noise would be amplitube not being registered. for latency: go to OPTIONS>AUDIO and change your driver mode to ASIO click APPLY for the bursts of noise - open amplitube inside MC and verify that it's registered. if not, reregester it.
