LJB I actually feel a little "taken" by CW's marketing strategy at the moment. In December they give away a $20- voucher, with very little on offer in the store. A week or two after expiry, they release a plugin for - tadaaa - $20. Guys, if you are going to "give" your users a voucher, why let it expire? I know many of the guys on this forum will disagree, or be "oh well, that's business", but I get the idea CW's marketing team do this stuff on purpose, with a s**** and a chuckle. Is it just me who feels this way? Ludwig Yes life sucks....then you get married! Hey, when were Dollar equal to Euro? 20$ 20€

UA made LA2A revisions, out in february. I wait for them and compare to Cakewalks emulation. But I think if revisions sound in same league as 1176 revisions, CA-2A will no longer be necessary...

The ProChannel module will only work in X1 Producer Expanded or X2 Producer, the VST version will work in any version of X1.

Man, Cakewalk sure makes it difficult to buy things from them. Took two different browsers and several tries to get the purchase completed.

I got my downloads (PC and Mac), serial# and reg# in less than 5 minutes using IE & Windows 7, thru paypal. No issues... And FYI for those running X2a and "other" hosts, this vst works (as expected) well inside Cubase 7.01 too...

While the PC2A certainly stands its ground against the old UAD LA2A IMO, the new ones will hopefully be in another league (judging from the difference between the old and the new UAD 1176 models). The PC2A (or CA2A) will still be my goto vocal comp for tracking, works-in-progress and whenever I'm running out of DSP on my solo card...

Got my Paypal confirmation within seconds and over thirty minutes later, I'm still waiting for a Cakewalk confirmation. Good to hear that the VST versions aren't locked to CW products. <EDIR> Product showed up in my products page but email hasn't arrived after 40 minutes. <Sigh> The infamous CW email system. All is well, as it stands.

The VST interface looks nice. All the switches and dials work as expected. (Better than some of the competing products.) I haven't time at the moment to do side by side comparisons but I expect it will sound good.

But I think if revisions sound in same league as 1176 revisions, CA-2A will no longer be necessary... I'm in the same boat...the UA 1176 Collection was a HUGE step up over the originals, and has probably become the only reason I haven't sold the card yet. If they do the same thing with the LA-2A Collection, then I can't see myself buying the CA-2A. Plus, it will be $149 for me to upgrade to the LA-2A collection to get 3 very different sounding units (at least according to UA - which I believe based off their 1176's), whereas it would cost me $99 to buy the Cakewalk version. That said, I did go looking for a CA-2A demo and couldn't find one, so until that happens, there is absolutely zero chance of me buying it.

The installer for the 64bit version of CA-2A ignored my standard VSTplugins folder (/program files/steinberg/vstplugins/) and instead installed to Cakewalk's own VSTplugins folder - where I have nothing else installed. And there's no way to tell the installer where you want it installed. Seriously. These oversights ... KEv

Yes life sucks....then you get married! Very funny Freddie. If I might paraphrase? Yes life sucks...then you get divorced! Back on topic: I couldn't believe this offer when I saw it. Just last week I was thinking how badly I wanted to use the 2A in a different DAW but couldn't. Apparently now I will be able to which is a good thing for me. I use the 2A on all acoustic guitar tracks which is the majority of what I track. Like the sidechain too... Bonus!!! Regards,

I don't know if they've worked on the algorithms or anything.. Would be nice to know, actually. But function-wise the update gives you two new things: Side chaining and a VST-version (to use outside PC) I don't think it would be very smart to give it more new features, since it's a emulation of a hardware unit. Better to stay true to the original
