Can anyone point me to the webpage, forum fred, on the CW site that has info about this presentation?

Since it was announced a couple of weeks ago I have been looking about for when and such. Could find nothing. Surely my failing for not looking for love in all the right places.

And since I was gone all day fixing computers for clients, I left before the posting of the reminder freds.  Sad is what I am.

It was the first link in the thread but it only worked while they were streaming live. It should be up on the youtubes soon enough though... I hope.

For any Firefox users I'd suggest downloading Foxclocks. Great little app that sits at the bottom with as many or few times in time zones as you want.

Great for us globe trotting rock stars.......... I find it useful too.

I'm so used to everything I need to do being EST that the conversion did trip me up... but only for a minute until I looked up the time difference. That sounds like useful add on, FBB. Gonna check that out. It was an extremely informative session but most importantly bapu got some recognition. lol... Cheers!

Can't wait to pick this up on Youtube, or some such... I did manage to call in for a short time, around 11 ish BST, and it was streaming well, but I was too damn knackered to watch for long.

I caught the part where they were converting the kick audio track to a MIDI track... I never knew that! I could have used that in 6 because we were doing the same kind of thing, but manually, and it took ages.

That transient stuff was insane. So cool and so useful and they REALLY explained it well. Heck, even I understood it... mostly. :-p

Handy feature. I've used that to extract timing from a drum track and apply it to things like MIDI bass tracks to tighten the timing. And when you quantize it you can do it by percentage to control how tightly you lock the two. Also great for stealing a groove from a CD etc. and using the timing as a MIDI groove template for your own rhythms etc.

Mmmm... Interesting indeed... and gets me thinking...

Using the transients thing, and converting it to MIDI, can give you so many options/tools for "borrowing" stuff from other peoples tunes... By using EQ to search out certain items, and then mixing to a separate track and using its transients, you could create a MIDI track that could possibly replace a reasonably complex rhythm (or groove, as it is called nowadays).

Once you have the MIDI tracks you can then change the BPM, as well as the drum sounds...

I must admit that I never usually use drum loops, or even someone else's drum MIDI file. I prefer to put in the, well, effort isn't the right word, because that is demeaning to people who like to use loops, but what I mean is I prefer to create my own drum tracks. But I fancy the idea of taking someone else's song and using that as inspiration for a creation of my own.

Forgive me, I'm just rambling aloud here... My head is filling up with things to try out, now that I am fully Expanded...

So why was/is there not a sticky fred about this presentation? The last webinar had a sticky a week before the show. Not this one.

Was any info posted anywhere on the website? I looked repeately after a post a couple of weeks ago.

Why has this fred not been moved to the sticky seats?

@Truckermusic... The first one is here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTysXLBiYqY BTW the one being discussed hasn't started you. You must have watched the 2nd installment. The new one doesn't happen for another twenty minutes... unless of course I screwed up the time zone conversion and I'm missing it. That would blow.

Thanks for the link to the first one.....

I do believe that I did watch the second one.....it was Brandon and Seth in a little studio putting that track together.....

However I could be wrong .....but when I clicked on the You tube link this morning it was the one I watched yesterday!!!!!

None the less........

Thank you for the first one.....much appreciated.

Clifford

P.S. The best thing about this is that I just stumbled on it right when it went up........I was soooo  Lucky.....

@Truckermusic... Yeah, they did it kind of weird. The link to YESTERDAY's webinar (webinar #3) went to webinar #2 right up until the time they went live. After they were done the link then went back to displaying webinar #2. The one you watched had Brandon doing crazy Jedi keyboard tricks, right? That's webinar #2. The one yesterday was on mixing a live drum track and should be up on youtube soon. Cheers.

Here's what is being covered and look for both Seth and me to be on the live chat. I am helping out with the chat because there will be a few fun surprises.

I missed the webinar this time.  What were the surprises that Robin mentioned in his post earlier in this thread?

They had a couple of guests. Some fellow named John Landry via feed and they had another guy (I forget his name) add some MIDI percussion in the studio and showed off one of the newer V-Drum kits. Which reminds me they said there was gonna be a V-Drum demonstration today at 2PM PDT IIRC. Hmmm... I don't see any links up yet.

Am I the only one who thought the inserts were a waste of time? I don't really want to know who is using Sonar professionally and watch an admittedly excellent drummer plug V-Drums (even though they are brilliant).

Brandon and Seth were excellent and and as ever I learned a lot of stuff - the the other bits were just filler and commercials.

Re:CakeTV Live webinar happening today at 2 PM PST 2012/06/29 19:49:35 (permalink)
It's an infomercial. They teach you how to use the product. Their drum mixing session was very similar to the drum mixing classes I took at a music production class I took at a local college. Very in depth and covered all aspects of the sound of the drums to the point of being tedious. But I guess it's necessary. I'm not really interested in the artist spotlight thing as that's just a shameless plug for some lucky artists. I did notice they used the PCLA for about 20 seconds, but not enough to sell me on it. It was a long webinar, but mixing drums can easily go into hours as I found out at my college session...same thing there too. I did like the idea of learning how to convert audio to midi notes, that can be VERY useful to me. the midi drum set demo looked cool and I like the percussions that the drummer added, I was looking forward to watching the webinar about it that they talked about, but it never aired like they said it would, so maybe they'll do it sometime in the future.

That might be the cost of having the webinars. If it is, it's well worth it but I'd rather they turn the advert down a little next time. Ears are still ringing.

Well - another 10 days have passed and still no video for those of us who couldn't attend the webinar (WHY does it have to be so late... just make it 2 hours earlier next time .. or put it on a friday when we don't have to get up early the next day ).

Any news? I'm quite looking forward to seeing the show - the first 2 was very informative and helpful and definately entertaining.

Positive regards,
Dennis
