The yellow means an update is pending. C3 shows that you are running Braintree.

So, if we're seeing "Braintree" but the LED light is yellow, this seems to mean "you are currently running Braintree, but there is an update".  This is confusing a lot of people as they are expecting to see "Cambridge" somewhere on the page with the version numbers BEFORE hitting the install/update button.

It's minor, but at the same time illogical.  If you're updating, surely you want to know what you're gonna update to.

I installed CCC on another machine, not to download anything, but just to see if "Cambridge" appeared.  It did.
Went back to the studio PC, C3 still had Braintree.

I finally did a manual install from "My Account" area ...

I have not been a fan of the way Overloud has handled user IRs in the past and REmatrix looks like it will not change my opinion.

I agree, there's definite room for improvement. I figure they just assumed people would use the factory IRs and add a few of their own, but that's not how SONAR users roll

FWIW I included a tip in the first release eZine of how I handle adding new impulses. It's unwieldy, but it's the best I've come up with for now.

Note that REmatrix Solo adds all your IRs into one big file named userIRs.rir, which is located at:

 C:\Users\Public\Documents\Overloud\REmatrix Solo\userIRs.rir

To prevent the User menu from getting too unwieldy, you can rename this file (e.g., userIRs_original.rir) so any existing files don’t appear, then experiment with loading the new impulse responses. This will create a new userIRs.rir file. Note which ones are your favorites, then delete the userIRs.rir file, change the original .rir file back to userIRs.rir, and re-load only your favorites.

It's still a poor way to handle a menu system... I would think proper sub menus a far better choice...?

I have a somewhat large DimPro library and it's easy enough to navigate patches... (If I remeber correctly, it is a bit clumsy returning to the menu each time at the root instead of the location of the currently open patch...

This seems (to me) a week spot for them in their' softwares... The TH2 library is very clumsy for me as well... Though on the opposite side of the spectrum... ;-)

I hadn't thought to simply load the samples into another player... Our other convolution player is much easier to work with...

I agree that some of the nomenclature within CCC is poor...

There is no mention of what the available updates are instead choosing to display versions and dialog of what is already installed. The version numbers appear to be the upgrade version and if you're really paying attention (and remembering) installed version numbers, one could feel more confident of what is going on...

The gold top patches are not mentioned in the Anderton Collection info here either. Again displaying on,y what is already installed... Very misleading...

Yes, the LED alerts us to an available update and the version number is different, but where we (I belueve most of us) would expect info of the pending update, we only see what we already know...

Maybe a simple statement of what is installed and a detailed statement of the available update woukd be more clear?

Feature Request? CCC seems a nice starting point for an install/update system, but is still in need of some more development to come up to the level of workmanship Sonar already is...

I fully agree Keni.  I was really glad to use the C3 the first time; even set up the folder structure in the C3 settings to partly suit my non-standard (but which makes better sense than having files strewn all over the place !) setup.

For example: Have an "Advanced" button in the SETTINGS for those with non-standard structures, allowing us to place various types of components where WE like, instead of moving files around and registry hacks.  For those that want the standard setup, then the GUI is just like it is now.

During the poll I mentioned that C3 needed to have more granularity in folder choice, apart from the confusing traffic-light system with only two layers.  They certainly need to work more on C3 as it is the MOAC (Mother Of All Configurations) or should be as far as SONAR is concerned.

Let's hope ...

Re: Cambridge is here. 2015/03/28 14:39:26 (permalink)
I posted this in another Cambridge thread, but it went unanswered. I understand, as addressing my questions will require some diligence. Perhaps I'll have better luck in this thread.
---------------------------------
I read the eZine, but it doesn't address some of my installation issues. I have bought/subscribed to Platinum weeks ago, but have not downloaded and installed in the hope that the Command Center would soon be updated. Here are my questions:

1) Presumably, since there is no Command Center update in this release, the issue of "custom" installations has not been addressed. Also, the eZine has no instructions for installation of the various products and associated resources to desired locations/folders. Does a procedure exist for installation the individual packages in desired locations?

2) Does installation of any of these packages at locations other than the default require manual registry modifications?

3) If this is to be my first attempt at installing Platinum, do I need to install previous releases first, or do I only need to install the latest (Cambridge) release?

4) My music PC is not connected to the internet, but I have access to another PC that is connected to the internet. Is there a procedure for offline installation and authorization? (I could temporarily connect it to the internet, but since Command Center doesn't support custom installations, there seems little point in that.)

5) Will Command Center ever be enhanced to accommodate custom installations, and if so, when is this likely to occur?

thanks

i was close with thinking it was going to be called 'Churchill'.

We were thinking about "Chelsea." One of our initial ideas was to choose names based on highest crime rate by city in Massachusetts... But that felt wrong.

And you have disillusioned this Englishman who thought that there was no crime in Massachusetts, because it was all in NYC.
