The Beatles White album, according to Wiki, was so called because George Martin had painted his mixing desk with white emulsion to get a different type of sound. Back in Black was recorded on it too in later years after the paint had been removed.

So, that explains Pink, roight?

In the 80's, I did a filmscore a Jonathan Winters film "Say Yes" and in the screening session, the director said he wanted to hear "orange" in a particular cue.  Of course we wrote that down and didn't question him.  Everybody knows what orange means right?

I think Sonar sounds more Blue than ProTools - Studio One  is much more Mauve to me. I thinks thats why it's better for Motown - it's a color thing.

This explains why no good music was produced until the widespread adoption of color monitors in the late 80's. Prior to that, everything was in black and white, as may be ascertained by watching the documentary "A Hard Day's Night".

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Oh - I had to get in on this one

I agree with customizing colors...

I tried the mind / ear / sight thing... Didn't work, but I didn't get great grades in finger painting anyway.

What would be equally interesting to me,  in the spirit of this thread,  is to be able to close my eyes, listen to the music, go online, and see more money in my bank account than I need..  That would be good.

As far as I know there was no actual music until colours were invented in about the 15th century by Donald Coolor, who accidently discovered colour while looking up at the sky. He turned to his wife and said the sky is...and after a pause said.. bloo. His wife had no idea what he was talking about and he suggested that all objects had what he called 'coolor', named after himself. He told her he spent many hours thinking up names for the different coolors. Green Sleeves, a song about a man with a cold and no handkerchief, was the first song ever and even used a coolor to celebrate the fact.

Actually it was the man's horse that had the cold.

Discos came to the fore because the multi-coloured lights confuses the brain. If you listen to disco music in a dark room you will find the tempo is about 50bpm and sounds like a romantic ballad. Play the same track in the disco and it suddenly speeds up to 170bpm and lyrically or musically it makes no sense. You tend just to hear a constant thud and each record after that sounds like the one before. The body cries out for fluid and people become more attractive especially the longer you're in the environment. That's all due to colourful lighting.

LOL The opposite for me, Zo - though I'd appreciate a tiny bit more contrast in Logic - more like darker shades of grey. The less colors I see, the better - actually if I notice them, something's wrong. They need to just flow w/ the rest.

I'd work w/ shades of grey most of the time if it was easier to quickly distinguish them. So I pick the next option - the least "disturbing" colors.

OTOH, when I color code a clip bright green or red in the track view as a reminder, it bugs me so much that I know there's something there I need to take care of as soon as possible.

Ultimately, for me, and conceptually speaking, the best DAW would become transparent when you're done with a mix - there'd be nothing left but sound.

Bob Katz talks about the 70s 'beige period' in one of his books. He said everything was fine with the mix but people listened to the records in their beige living rooms with beige carpets, beige curtains and beige furniture. This affected what people heard and the records came across as dull and lifeless, a bit like their decor and lifestyle in general. He got around this by inventing the 'beige' system, later to be called the 'K' system and he also did special living room 'non-beige' re-mixes, which were a little brighter. Eddie Van Halen did something similar by creating the 'brown' sound. It wasn't until punk rock brought in the new colour, a kind of mix of spit, phlegm and urine, that things really changed.

CDs are silver because silver is the colour that humans hear best. MP3s are mud coloured but they were never intended to be used as a medium for listening. MP3s were originally created to hold sounds that scare moles out of your garden.

Color is everything! COLORS are essential how we perceive sounds!

(condensed area)

So please once more! Please make all the colors customizable directly from SONAR color Menu!  COLOR and skin it’s very essential and how we perceive sounds!

Thanks again for PANUP SKINS! Without that I would have hard time working with SONAR X1.

My, what big ears you have! And those hairs... nice touch.

But seriously, has anyone noticed that in spite all the cries about color from the people, not one sound or decree has ushered forth from the castle?
 Only crickets...

Yes they hear you. Perhaps the sound is so loud it has become unintelligible.

But in all fairness I believe the way X1 is made would make it difficult if not impossible to implement such a feature.

The present GUI would have to be revamped, restructured, reconfigured, rewritten. And that's not going to happen during the life of X1.

However, X2 may be a surprise to us all...

Be patient! Stay tuned!
