your point is well taken ... if they did so, it would require a significant upgrade of
their customer support infrastructure to deal with it.

I use my system as a stand alone for live perfomances only. Don't want to go on the net to register and expose my system to schtuff!

and what's the big deal anyway? ... you're only licensed to use it on one computer
at a time ... so .. is it just 'cause it tweaks your perceived sense
of freedom ("i could break the licensing agreement .. any time i want ?")
because the dongle isn't really that inconvenient (as least not to me it's
not).

Not even close. If your dongle goes south, you're out of business. It is the freedom of not being a slave to a cheap piece of plastic.

Now, as penance for your uncalled for (and quite nasty) sarcasm, feel free to poop in your hat and pull it down over your ears.

No, because I've got a spare that didn't cost me the full purchase price of my car.

temp licenses to keep me up-and-running .. it was inconvenient, but
i didn't have downtime either.

O.K., Jeff, let's not let the banter escalate.

Actually, I have several USB, dongles, too. I'm no saint, but just the thought of illegally using software is abhorrent to me. Like many musicians, I hold my own copyrights, and I've otherwise been involved with copyrights/intellectual property rights for years--so please do not even suggest that by"freedom" from dongles, I am somehow advocating freedom to violate software licences.

Now that I hope we understand each other: peace (and pulling it down over your ears is optional).
