Then again, sitting in a business meeting with a bunch of high and mighty executive types, and the main lick of Birds of Fire from Mahavishnu orchestra goes off - well, it certainly sways opinions. OR Baby's got back by sir mix-a-lot. Never put that one on my phone though. Or Dynamo hum or why does it hurt when I pee? Yep there are songs you do not want other people hearing as your ring tone. Me RED by King Crimson. That would be my ringtone. Can I get that out of Soundforge? I love good guitar explosions ... I think the best was Garry Moore on his first solo album (Grinding Stone) with a cut called "Spirit". Others: Robert Fripp had a couple of them in Eno's Here Come the Warm Jets ... I think the song Blank Frank and then Baby's on Fire are the ones that come to mind. John Weinzierl in his duet against a violin in Amon Duul 2's Apocalyptic Bore, not to mention a couple of other moments of his in Dance of the Lemmings, specially Dehypnotized Toothpaste! Michael Karoli in Can's Future Days, and Mother Sky. I like McLaughlin's forays into metaamphetamines or steroids in his fingers, but all too often it comes off as just technique ... and ability ... rather than just music and flying ... mind you it's fabulous, no doubt about that ... but I don't think that the speed is the most important thing in it. But it sure blew out a lot of guitarists in those days and turned a whole bunch of them into kids with sticks in their hands instead of guitars! But by far, the best solo guitar I have ever heard, is not even a rock album ... it's a "chamber concert" between Terje Rypdal and David Darling in the album called EOS ... if you ever want to hear what Jimi could have been and done, and what he created ... this is it ... too bad that too many folks are so stuck on top ten to even listen to something as nice and pretty as this is ... warning ... skip that first cut! ... the whole album is something that we would be proud to see rock guitar get to in mixing with classical instruments ... stuff like this would really help take our electric instruments much further and faster ... and accepted in a classical music world.

Here come the warm jets - a classic - and not a hint of what was to come from Brian, though very typical Fripp. Particularly Baby's on Fire I love Amon Duul 2, but don't think I know that particulate song. But the main riff of birds of fire is truly evil.

spacey I recorded vibrate tones. Then put the phone in your pocket and called your self over and over.... yeah - we have all done that, right?

Santana The opening to Abraxas? That would be the first song on the album: Singing Winds, Crying Beasts, a song with a very spacy beginning. Maybe you meant one of the two biggest hits, Black Magic Woman, or Oye Como Va?

Jessie Sammler They're fine, unless the owner of the distinctively-ringing phone is slow on the draw when out in public. I hate being out somewhere and hearing someone's "unique" cell phone ring over... and over... and over... (and it's always something great, like an annoying sound effect, or part of a song by Kanye West or 311)... while I glare at them and silently think, "ANSWER THE GOD DAMNED PHONE ALREADY!" Edite becuase I kannut typp.
Exactly, it's actually becoming something that's considered in poor taste now. Using a song for a ringtone that is. Not any different then the guys with their huge car stereos booming rap music. It's like, people, not everyone want's to hear your favorite song! I now just use a generic ring that came with the phone.

when it rings... i answer it. and occasionally i push the buttons and others hear a ring and answer theirs. most of the time it's in the truck and no one answers it...poor little fella... i have another one with a cord attached to it that spits out pieces of paper when it rings... i never answer that one but sometimes i shove my own pieces of paper in it and send them back to whoever has one of them on the other end. either way i ignore them both as much as possible. somtimes i get in my truck and go to people's houses and talk to them face to face. or they come to my place. i find it next to impossible to ignore them when they do that.

Hi, I'm too lazy ... not worth the effort ... and pretty soon the RIAA is gonna go after everyone to charge copyright violations ... Not worth the hassle. But if I had one ... it would probably be something rude ... or a bit from a film I made ... that had some people walking by a window/front on a store and folks would gather and whisper and chat with each other about nothing and at times they would actually be confiding in each other ... more fun that way ... Did he say that? ... did she just say what I thought she did? ... and since some of it was whispering ... the effect was magnified ... and the wording gets more fun when you change the windows subject ... most ignore a Stephen King book, but if you put a sex toy in there ... ohhh my word ... and the women are just as bad as the guys, btw!

As a wise Guy once stated from his holy chapala ... none of the hits, none of the time ... prevents you from becoming just another turkey in the middle of all the other turkeys!
