Embarassed with my latest use for Sonar.

Ringtones. Yup.

Which led to me to wonder if other's had done the same, and then, I thought WAIT! I betcha everyone in the CH has an interesting/great/rocking/personality matching ring tone. What's yours???

Tonight, I made:
Hey Jude (Main ringtone... the NahNahNah's bit at the end. "Ju-Ju-Ju-Ju-Judy-Judy-judy"!
Guns of Brixton (the opening riff) for my husband
Sour Times (Portishead. The intro makes a GREAT ringtone, btw)
No Woman, No Cry (For when my hippie-chick friend calls
Instant Karma ("And we all shine on!")

Embarrassed, yet proud enough to start a thread about it.

Seriously, though, that's more than I've used my DAW program lately.

Why be embarassed? Sonar does that too. I was going to make some Ringtones of some of my stuff using Pyro. It would be a great promoting tool for your music to have ringtones available online for people to download. A lot of bands do it.

Crg, that was actually the interesting thing... so many of these sites are actually selling indie music and looking for new artists. I suppose, I should have uploaded my OWN songs. Anyway, it's a thought for someone who might want publicity.

    I made a few also.
Quite a few people ask me to chop out part of their song and make a ring tone for them.
I made a collage of Sponge Bob laughing -non stop- for my girlfriends phone. It's the most annoying thing you've ever heard. I want to smash the phone every time it rings for more then 3 seconds.

Yes there are many uses for Sonar. I once read a post a few years back where a Sonar user was recording a vocal track, forgot to turn off record, went to work, and eight hours later he discovered his mistake. Curious he scrolled through the long wave and was astonished to see parts with significant wave data. He listened to it and heard his next door neighbors going through his fridge and drinking his beer. So if you're thinking about getting a guard dog, you might want to consider Sonar instead.

My dad can't figure out why everyone doesn't do that! lol

I have one of the collabs I did as my ringtone.

Well, I did until my phone died 2 days ago. Gotta get a new one and put that song on it again. Or maybe it's time to change now.

They're fine, unless the owner of the distinctively-ringing phone is slow on the draw when out in public. I hate being out somewhere and hearing someone's "unique" cell phone ring over... and over... and over... (and it's always something great, like an annoying sound effect, or part of a song by Kanye West or 311)... while I glare at them and silently think, "ANSWER THE GOD DAMNED PHONE ALREADY!"

You need to have your Sonar license revoked! Sonar abuse is a criminal action.

I used to make my own ringtones with Sonar (or P5)... it was great fun. Now, Verizon won't let you import anything but what you buy from them... bye bye ringtones...

Yeah I think we're missing out, the deluxe version has to come pre-loaded with the complete Crazy Frog back catalogue and be able to play the old style midi tones too...

    Russell/Crg, I have Verizon!

Google "Make your own ringtone". You'll find lots of sites that you can upload to and edit (if you haven't already done so) - make sure it notes that it's compatible with your carrier (and sometimes phone, too). Once you've created the rington, the site will send you a pic message with the tone as a sound attachment. When you open the message, most phones will allow "Save As Ringtone". Totally works.

Oh yeah. Many of the sites are free, and have no subscription, but make sure you check!
