Started out on synth /piano. Went to guitar as a second instrument. I have been doing from 1 to 2 hours on guitar every night and I think I'm getting the hang of it pretty well. I can play bass in a pinch. I'm sure not as well as a dedicated bass player.... no where near. I'm no drummer, don't let me anywhere near a set of drums. I am supposed to be trying out for lead guitarist in a band this weekend. I can play lead to the tracks they sent me so we'll see........I want to get better at it and the only way is to play it regularly. I guess if it doesn't work out I'll go out the same door I came in and keep playing. I figure that another year or two doing at least an hour practice and I should be getting something right.

Guitar although I wish I was better (don't we all?) I can fool most people into thinking I can play piano but a real pianist would suss me. I love beating on drums but my steady rhythm all goes to pot at the first sign of a roll. Wish I was better at all of them.

Primarily guitar though I'm equally mediocre on several instruments (keys, bass, drums, cowbell, etc.). I avoid singing, but I do voice-overs for speaking. As far as I'm concerned, loop recording is the greatest ability in a DAW. I'm not proficient enough at anything to do takes right the first time so I record several attempts and use the best. Needless to say, this doesn't lend itself to playing live (which I haven't done since the early 80's).
Time for all of you to head over to Beyond My DAW!

Main instrument is bass. At one point I played a mean alto sax, but it's case is currently covered in two inches of dust. I can beat a guitar and piano into submission, but I do wish I could play them better.

My brain. The acoustic guitar mostly. I've been trying to learn keyboards and synths. I've been taking a break lately. Burn out syndrome. I've learned so much in the last five years using Sonar and all the new instruments and techniques. It's always on my mind. Since I compose everything in my head, I have to say my brain. It all starts with a poem-lyric and then make the music work for it. Lately I've been playing the sander and the trowel in the home improvement one man band. Lol So we change and so we grow.

I'm the opposite of Bill. With a little added keys and saxamaphone thrown in. Not necessarily very good at either. And Sax is like Opera to me... I like to play it/sing it, but I don't go around listening to it. Ever. I know... I know... But that's the way it is. Just not my thing. Except that I CAN. So.... I do. Sometimes. Except the new dog howls if I play my sax. It's funny, yeah, but hard to ignore.

Do you write songs after sax too? (I know - too easy, but I'm tired and don't want to use all the braincells required to be witty... )
