I am buying PT9 and I am going to try to install it on that win XP 32 machine you built me so long ago. Goodness, that thing still does all I want with the exception of huge memory capability.

I would be interested to see how PT9 works with XP, please advise. I was under the impression that it will not work with XP because according to AVIDs minimum requirements page they do not mention XP as a supported OS and therefore I guess that means they will not offer support if you are running it on an XP machine!

I would like to upgrade to PT9 but I do not want to build a new Windows 7 computer right now.

I just had a thought, perhaps it will only operate in stand alone native mode with Win 7?

I just assumed that I couldn't use it without buying a new computer.
Cheers.

I'll keep you posted.

I've read of many people installing PT9 on Win XP32 and saying it works.

I simply jumped in the mud puddle and intend to ride it out until I have something working.

I prepared my general purpose laptop last night as a back up plan. It is Win7 64 and I have stripped all the junk ware, but it is stuffed with my graphics apps and the like.

We'll see what happens.

best regards,
mike

Anyone gonna be using Sonar for midi and PT9 for mixing?  Seems like a winning combo if you outsource.

2GB Ram, Nvidia Geforce 8600 GT
HP vs19e, Samsung Synchmaster 2032BW
Edirol FA-66

I'm using Sonar Home Studio 7XL for midi, and Audition 3 for mixing. It works for me.

I had thought about this but PT8 LE has a really nice midi editor, I can only assume 9 is as good if not better.

What is all this nonsense that PT does not have input monitoring?
It even has a cool 'low latency' monitoring feature that switches off the plug ins.

One thing that bugged me was that all the M Box 2's all had a 'zero latency' direct monitor feature (as you would expect with most modern interfaces) .. all except the M Box 2 pro!

It simply states in the manual that "to achieve zero latency monitoring, users of the M Box 2 Pro should use a mixer"

Well that's what I've done for years and is, I guess, the 'Pro' way of doing things.

And what's the big 'con' of an iLok?
