Well I think you are pretty accurate about the "race":

What I mean is, new times, new tools. Today musicmaking and sharing music is available to all of us, not just a bunch in the "industry". And the new tools like computers can make it easier and lower threshold to do many things. And that is what the 'race' is about, who can make more things possible without a lifetime experience making music, producing it and releasing it.

Operating a DAW does take a skill set though, and the more features, usually the greater the learning curve. Making good music will always require talent, skill, and taste. So back to the drawing board to write some good songs. Not that it matters much anymore because the audience is not too discriminating.

The Answer Is "YES!"

Don't be put off by all the silly answers in this thread.

I just got off the phone with The Music Industry and it assured me that it will take you seriously if you use X1.

Enjoy the time you've got, because it's all the time you get.

I'm sorry but that's simply impossible. The music industry was playing bowling with Elvis, Sonar X1, the Tooth Fairy and me at that moment. And Elvis is willing to testify...  Admit it: you made it up.

Did they give you a call back number? Was it 867-5309?
