Hey Brandon - any chance the LE version will make an appearance in a wider range of magazines etc? It definitely did the trick for me - gave me the confidence that X1 would run on my system, look usable on my screen and improve my experience. I pulled the proverbial trigger about an hour ago and am happily downloading away as we speak.

thomasabarnes I don't have a problem with bugs being reported. I'm not mad at users just because they are having problems or point out bugs. It's the blowing out of proportion short comings of X1, arrogance in behavior, repeated disrespect to Cakewalk and forum users, and unreasonable comments that irritates me. John pointed out some of this stuff in his post above. And I pointed out some things in my posts in this thread. that a boy tommy..+1..i feel the exact same way !!..and also those people who just joined yesterday with one post complaining about how its un-usable..or the word "broken" thats the word that disgusts me.

If there is a C, it would be nice if it was all ONE file to download. I think you will get more sales of X1 that way from people, like me, who are still on 8.5.3

The smart people have stayed with X1... I'm one of the stupid ones who believed in Cakewalk so mcuh I bought it believeing it must be better only to find myself in a world of aggrevation and frustration... The envelope issue is horrible and getting worse with fixes instead of better... I'd better not start ranting again... I just finished another boil-over in another thread.... But if these issues don't get resolved in a reasonable manner, there will be no X2 for me.... I just can't believe what a mess this program has become for me and I'm tired of hearing people tell me how much I will like it once I get used to it... I AM used to it and that's why I'm angry!!! I'm working on my last X1 project and I will not start another... So it's a waste of my money for this year and possible I will not buy next year.... Nor have/will the majority of my clients.... I know there are others who love this "new way", but it's not for me.... and after all these years the last thing I ever thought I'd be doing is switching my DAW to a different brand.... but This release is fast pushing me away... and I only hope that there's some way to sooth these issues so that I can stay with Cakewalk as I've been happy here for so long.... I honestly don't have the time to visit the forum much, but tonight is kinda like my "weekend", so I thought I'd drop in to pick up some tips. I noticed two things: 1. A continued and pronounced lack of respect and civility towards others, especially the "bakers" and; 2. Most of the same people constantly complaining ... it seems like for years now ... Since I spend most of my time actually making music, (with X1b I might add), I haven't the time to read ALL of the threads. But tonight a thought kept "niggling" in the back of my head. How can these same people read/write thousands of posts, primarily negative, and still have time to work with X1 so as to find SO MANY "deal breaker" bugs? This used to be a good and positive forum with much to learn and share; but it's becoming akin to the sound of fingernails on a chalk board ... chilling and quite unpleasant. I remember how some used to joke about how RUDE and NEGATIVE the Cubase forum was ...

OK... though it's kind of hard to believe: you guys bothered to spin up an LE version of the program, put up the webpage about it, got it placed in one magazine in Germany, and that's the end of the story? I mean, these OEM versions are clearly very effective marketing, or else everyone wouldn't be doing them... wouldn't this be more effective if it were a bit more widespread?

Thanks for your understanding... I'm not really wanting or expecting it to go back to 8.5.3. But some of the changes they've made ruined what was working for so many and did not have to do so... I have no problem with the learning curve. Cakewalk is still a cakewalk to me... But they've spent years honing this and many of the things that were developed were working for many people. I'm already running it (X1) mostly as easily as I do 8.5.3 in as much as knowing where things are and how they work. I get occassional surprises of course... My issues are all related to the things that did not improve.... they changed. The difference being I can't do what I did... I can't see my envelopes, I must click extra times to set a time point and select... and the biggest...? What was in their minds to cut the snap2grid functions in half? To get a "synchronized" mode??? I'm sorry... these issues are too in-my-face to simply ignore as I have other "improvements" they've given us that I don't use/need/want (Beatscape?)... I can even live with the poor color control and the numerous windows that are avaialble in the new gui... I don't like them, but they don't slow my work... Well, let's not get into the lack of control redundancy between the tv/cv/inspector... That's some other pains... I too am not trying to convince anyone to like what I do... But they've now changed the program in ways that I'm finding more difficult and time wasting (for me)... so what I want is for them to FIX these issues so that we can ALL be happy! If they would make something to the effect of a Edit Filter Disable, or an "all" mode (Or at least correct the system so that the envelopes can be seen and understood)... If they would return/add the old functionality of the select tool so that using the smart tool becomes a choice instead of forced... and of course, fix the snap2grid! The missing buttons? No longer an issue as benstat's Sonar Plus solved that as well as added extra tools to Sonar (Freeze all selected tracks in a single click!)... and Panup's Sonar Mod's are making it easier to read the screen... So am I really asking that much? There are other than the issues that even most poeple who like X1 will admit are missing/desired such as getting back the almost total color control we had and now have so little... These are workable and I'm guessing they will improve as they figure out "how" with the new gui... But my issues are very central to the bulk of work that I do and are currently killing me.... I want them FIXED and move forward... I wouldn't have been buying a new upgrade if all I wanted was the old program... Keni

Thanks Charlie... I appreciate your understanding. I'm really trying to hold some hope for the future of Sonar... But right now I'm being forced to not use X1 as it's so troublesome/problematic for me... I've always looked forward to the new release each year as a child does christmas gifts... that's been spoiled and I now look to the next release with trepidation and disillusionment. I'm being forced to "look around" and it makes me sad... Your response was very eloquent and I'm glad to feel that I've been understood a little better than other "debates" on the current X1 forum... I WANT Sonar to change and progress... But I don't want it to lose the advantages that it has already gained... Thanks again... Keni

koolbass This sort of sarcasm is typical of what I was inferring. Mr. Silk Tone, you have made the exclamation to my point. Thank you for your assistance. Yes for me it also started out all cozy and sucky-uppy to CW when Sonar was still a functional DAW. I'm no longer a cheerleader for CW, and I have no problem saying their software is piece of junk. I have lost all respect for CW, after wasting a huge amount of time and effort trying to get them to fix a bug that has existed in Sonar for years. I'm tired of it, so sorry if my "sarcasm" bothers you. I would immediately drop Sonar if it wasn't for the fact I still have unfinished projects in it. CW, its sad DAW and CW's apologizing cheerleaders bother me, so I guess we are even. EDIT: OK, that was harsh, but that is how I feel at this point, especially if people tell me I should be happy and in denial of Sonar obviously being in self-destruct mode.

cmusicmaker No X1C guys but you might want to download this new patch for X1. Hey that's impressive, smaller quicker fixes of issues seems like a good move to me.
