I just want a good mic that's not going to sound like a mic at all... if that makes any sense. I want it to sound like the singer/speaker's mouth is relaying directly to the listener (sans effects, EQ, and whatnot), rather than sounding like a voice recorded through a microphone.

I just realized you don't mention what mic preamp you'll be using.  Defeats the whole purpose of finding "the right mic" if you're running it through a $50 Behringer mixer mic pre....

SonarPlat/CWbBL, Win 10 Pro, i7 2600K, Asus P8Z68 Deluxe, 16GB DDR3, Radeon HD5450, TC Electronic Impact Twin, Kawai MP11 Piano, Event ALP Monitors, Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro, Too Many Plugins, My lucky hat.

Makes perfect sense. The last mic that I had that experience with was a Neumann M269.  Yes, an M269. You never hear about that one for some reason. But It was a fantastic mic for this application. It simply sounded like "turning up the source". Gorgeous mic.

Where could I buy it?... Can't find it on Sweetwater, Musician's Friend, SamAsh, or anywhere else... Is it an actual product that's... for sale?

Sorry, it's discontinued long since. You could find one used, but it would cost a million million (Or $6K+ at least).

Why is there so much hype about which and what mics that will give you the bext performance...I've seen some videos of the so called stars recording with mics that seems so basic yet they are living the so called high life.

Please tell me...what gives?
