FastBikerBoy In V8.5 on my monitor I can get 18 tracks displayed as you have it. I'm trying to stay out of this, as I've already said my piece on screen real-estate in a previous thread. But in fairness, your screenshot shows 8.5 is set to use segmented meters. If you can show 18 tracks in X1 with non-segmented meters and no mods, 8.5 will do 24 tracks or more with the non-segmented meters. Also, in fairness, I do think you should have to leave the Control Bar open, since some of the key information and controls it provides are available all the time in the 8.5 track view.

You are qouting me, but I was qouting Fastbikerboy, I didn't say anything about track numbers...just saying that I like the X1 GUI better than 8.5

brundlefly ...If you can show 18 tracks in X1 with non-segmented meters and no mods, 8.5 will do 24 tracks or more with the non-segmented meters... Also, in fairness, I do think you should have to leave the Control Bar open, since some of the key information and controls it provides are available all the time in the 8.5 track view. +1 ...concerning space saving and tools availability, 8.5.3 wins over X1, by far..... A suggestion to Mike_Mccue, if I may: You made good points and they are quite clear and understood, most of all objective.... But save your efforts, now... dear mate... there are users just wanting to "believe" in X1.... no way to get them to put their feet on the ground..... ...X1 may appear more modern than 8.5.3, but it generally wastes a lot of space here and there, plus a full blaze of menus and multi-tabbed double-strip inspector to mess everything up..... ...my experience with my wonderful powerful SONY VAIO 13.3'' screen speaks for it.... when it comes to visualizations, 8.5.3 is simply huge, while X1 a real nightmare...... ...and the fact that higher screen resolution is recommended by Cakewalk itself is, well, just a fact........ ...but you know, friends, folks' faith is beyond sight......

pwal s1v2 is far too cluttered... ;-) Yup, everything is hidden in plain sight on a single 1024 X 768 screen... It's so old fashioned looking that you could even view it all on last years £300 laptop...
