Honestly, all SOnar needs now is to become STABLE.

FWIW, Sonar X1 and Studio One are both running stable here... and no drop-outs.

Honestly, all SOnar needs now is to become STABLE. Have been using Studio One for 30 days now. Not a single crash or audio engine dropout. Still keeping X1 just in case. But it keeped either crashing or having the audio engine drop out in every session (and my computer is a brand new beast). edit: whoa, wrong thread.

Ya,not sure what you mean, stable here on a new computer as well.

I like the way how X1 is running on my four year old computer!

Went to buy a new one and the shop assistant lol said no need to bother if its working.

Clever guy, I thought!

So is there a good recommendation for a motherboard that, for DAW purposes, effectively supports PCI -- especially with the Delta 1010 in mind?

I have always built my own PCs, for reasons of cost, performance and nerdiness, but the last one I built a few years ago has served me so well that I've not felt the need to upgrade it.  As a result I've lost touch with the very latest in the ever-changing world of motherboards, etc.

However, I fear that my system may be getting past it due to a few recent issues that have begun to occur (mostly when it's rebooting it sometimes refuses to do so -- boot that is, which I need to research more, but thought I'd explore new options too).

I really like my old Delta 1010s (I have two in my home studio) and frankly not in a position to afford upgrading those just yet.  But as I look into my boot issue I want to have a plan B to replace the motherboard/CPU if necessary.

Any recommendations on getting a motherboard that'll support PCI without causing me issues with the Delta1010s would be most welcome.

Thanks to those that have sent me a PM on the topic.

Here's some interesting, and timely, information I uncovered while taking a coffee break:
http://www.gearslutz.com/board/pro-tools-10-hdx/730091-new-pc-build-pci-pthd-system-success.html

The important quote at the end is:

You can build a current generation Intel Sandybridge computer for your PCI PTHD system! Go with a Xeon CPU and you will have a FAR greater choice of motherboards because the native PCI implementation of the C202, C204 and C206 chipsets works just fine with PTHD systems. The parts in my system are: CPU - Xeon E3-1270 Motherboard - ASUS P8B-X RAM - 4 x Kingston 4GB KVR1333D3E9S/4G (16GB in total) PSU - Seasonic Platinum 1000

Anyone have any experience with these?

Not many people here use the Mackie firewire mixers, but my old 1620 kicks butt with Sonar Xi 64 bit.

WHOA... that guy fried his card? Yikes. Thanks for that link (even though it's too late for me). Now I can check whether my chipset is the right kind... but I'm thinking I just want to yank that card out if there is a potential for hardware damage. Ugh. Why can't anything be easy?

And I love Mackie stuff. An actual external digital mixer is way out of my price range though.
