As I understand it, the supplied BFD Eco DV is configured such that all instrument cells are set to play cymbals. From that, I also understand, then, that BFD2 and normal BFD Eco cannot do that.

oh, the DV bit at the end of BFD Eco DV, refers, I assume, to Digital Vault, who provide the samples and software.

No, like Steve said, you can route any kit piece to any slot in BFD2

Which is dead handy........

Okay, thanks for that. I will check out if the same applies for Eco. I've only loaded default kits up to now and not really explored the instrument that much.

Okay, thanks for that. I will check out if the same applies for Eco. I've only loaded default kits up to now and not really explored the instrument that much.
 
No, Eco has slots for kick, snare, hihat, toms, cymbals, percussion. In Eco you can swap the percussion slots for more cymbals and/or toms (with articulation limitation). Kick, snare, hihat, and the existing tom and cymbal slots are all fixed... only percussion slots can be swapped out.
 
Eco DV is basically Eco with the additional feature that it can run in "cymbal only" or "standard Eco" (aka "drum") modes. I'm assuming in DV the drum mode allows you to swap percussion for cymbals/toms just like regular Eco, though I haven't had a chance to play with it yet...
