NI must be on Vacation. Over 24 hours and still have not received my serial number. Filled out a Customer support form but will probably get the serial number before they answer the Ticket#.

@bitflipper

I still have a few extra coins left for the OTS release of the Rick and the Evolution Grand. Wouldn't miss either one due to not only the Quality of Gregs' work but the Great Customer Service he provides.

OT: Some clown on KVR is saying that Spectrasonics has teamed up with IK Multimedia to get the release of ST3 out. I think it was just a bad joke but interesting read. If I can find the link I will post it.

Thank was a joke, I think.

Spectrasonics is secretive, so far all we know they're working on an orbiting death-ray for NASA.

Eric confirmed they have successfully completed the orbiting death ray but are now working on something much more complicated. ST3???

Slightly O/T, but does Trillian have a Ric sound that's close to the new NI Ric?

Trilian does not include a Ric that I'm aware of but I usually use the upright or the double bass and have not had the time to explore that deeply.

Trilian does not have any Rick, but a lot of people say they like the Chapman stick in the absence of having a Rick. Trilian is great, nonetheless .... giving a person a lot of options, but without a Rickenbacker

There is some potentially important information posted by Thomas Skarbye - see post #7 in this thread on the NI forums.

"First of all get used to the fact that you need to set a negative pre-delay on Rickenbacker bass track to get it in sync with ex. drums. This is because there are (at default) 40ms string scrape. The scrape makes a huge difference before and in between the tones. - and create the "sonic sauce" that makes it feel real.
If scrape is 40 ms (can be set shorter in SETTINGS) - withdraw 7 ms and you have approximately the negative value you need: -33 ms. If you set scrape to 30 ms it will be -23 ms etc."

I'm hearing nothing but great reviews about this around the internet. Any user opinions here?
The 6 gigs is more of an issue than the price, which seems very reasonable if it's that good.

Bought it. Started to test it out.
Ended up jamming for an hour.
Have never happened with a bass library.
And I have OT cherry, Scarbee's others as well...
So yes, it is freakin awesome.

How much $ do you think it'll end up?

I never looked at the prices of those but I figure they must be a lot more expensive than the current bid.

Odd coincidence - the day NI announced their Rick, the friend who's supposed to be playing bass for some cuts on the record bought a black 4001.

I still want the Scarbee for the demos, though. :s

Well a new one is typically ~$2200. That one is in roughly the year I bought mine for $1000 (new), $2000 would be a steal (for my nostalgia) but I probably wouldn't want to pay more than $1500 but I'm not in a position to make a bid so I'll just let it pass (sadly).

That Rick went for $1650. Probably a steal considering it's rarity in color.

Not to me by the way. I might have paid that if really pressed.

HERE is one the same color as the one I owned (but about 6 years newer than mine was). $1800 is not a steal but a solid good price, IMO.

Oooopos. Just read it has a "professionally fixed and reset neck". Def pass by me.

Nice. Still way beyond my budget for temporary bass tracks, though.

Plus, this thing looks bigger than my wife, she'd probably need a ladder to reach the tuning keys. ;)

A Ric 400x bass is actually slightly shorter than (typical) 34 scale.

I have a 4003 Fireglow.
Need to get it setup as the action could go a tad lower without buzz.
I don't fool with setting up the Ric... (setting intonation is an exercise in the Zen of patience)
They *really* need to redesign that bridge.

I have a 1995 4003 Fireglow as well Jim. I'm glad you mentioned that, as I thought it was just me. The action is just a tad too high for my preference, but not high enough to make it uncomfortable. I might try to lower it a bit, but I do recall getting a tiny buzz one time before.

I have 2 dream bass - a Gibson Thunderbird and a Rick. Reminds me of a plug that didn't do as good as it should have - Broomstick Bass.
