See if you can get a Windows 8 Pro touch tablet / laptop. That should run Sonar nicely.

It'd be more for other applications like surfing/writing and very light duty audio stuff like a portable tracking devices/controller. If it ends up being a laptop I'd forgo the touch screen capabilities in lieu of power/disk space. I'm only willing to dump $300-500 into it. Just need a back up for my current abuse machine.

It seems that this positive thread ends faster than the negative ones.

Well, here's a success story of sorts. Now that my groove3 pass has expired, I've gotten the chance to start using X2 for real. My daughter gave me some tracks she's recorded in her bedroom studio and I went to work. I'm a total noob so the results aren't the greatest (nor are the recordings done in her square untreated room) but I worked for a couple of hours with not a single hiccup.

At one point I realized that it had been over an hour since I'd saved anything (though I do have autosave on), I normally save every few minutes no matter what program I'm working with.
