Makes for great movies, no?! Without going into any dreadful (politically charged) detail, it's been tried in real life, but in the end they got their just deserts anyway.

@soens. I think we are all just being silly. If people did the theoretically sensible thing in movies they would probably be over in 5 minutes. Without going into political charged detail, I think it is rare when real life villians are as comically black and white as thew stereotypical movie villian who gives himself and evil name like "Legion of evil", laughs manically while slowly swiveling in his chair while petting his impossibly white kitty!

Maybe villians should not build any form of override into their doomsday device for the hero to shutdown. If I was hellbent on say blowing up the planet, including an off button is too wishy washy.

 Good News Everyone!  I've installed a 30 second delay switch on my latest doomsday device. I call it "My latest Doomsday Device with a 30 second Delay". It waaz originally called "An Imminent Destruction Device", but that waaz before I realized I didn't have enough time to hide from the blast the first time I tested it. It waaz just a good thing I had forgotten to dismantle my revitalization chamber so I waaz able to return and use my time machine to go back in time and figure out where I went wrong so I wouldn't repeat that stupid mistake twice. I can't tell you how many times I've repeated stupid mistakes twice, let alone three or four times, because I simply can't remember.
