Any News/Release Date for X3e
Has anyone gotten any info on the release date for X3e? I have seen a few posts on the forum with fixes , but nothing as far as a timetable. The Bakers are also pretty quiet.

I don't recall the Bakers ever getting to "e" before. It is entirely possible that there will be no more releases until X4. If someone has heard otherwise, please chime in. JW

I've definitely seen some fixes mentioned which seems to imply that an 'e' is coming and I believe I have read explicitly of an 'e'. However I don't recall Cakewalk announcing release dates until they are 110% positive they are ready to go. I got pretty antsy during the X2a period but with what I have seen on X3a-d I'm unconcerned, it will get here when it is ready. Regards,

Am I missing something? If you release a "version". It should work completely. All issues and bugs fixed! You don't just release another version and expect users to upgrade and pay for a "fix". For "new" features, yes! For bug fixes, no. Oh well, I am really green, so unless I have some real problems with my X3d I wouldn't know if it was me or the SW...LOL. That is kinda sad really, but at least I am honest.

It's true, there will be a SONAR X3e. It's coming in mid to late March.

I would say yes you are missing something. No one is paying for bug fixes. The patches that CW puts out are free.

Copy / paste ( midi ) / piano-roll editing / snap to grid issues1. Hope it will fix, any issues when copying a midi track and it don't paste in at the marker but may sometime be off at 1-2 bars etc , may happen in piano roll too. Snap to grid issues that may change from 1/16 to 1/4 when editing in piano roll and i need to re enter 1/16 again at the snap to grid Snap to grid notes off by lets say 1/128 or 1/256 or a few tics or what u call it, when copying and pasting notes in piano-roll it don't quite hits the snap grid ( happens just sometime ) Pro-Channel2. Adjusting the EQ in pro channel can sometime crash sonar, may hear some ( pops / crackling sound etc ) when it happens, ( audio / filter /memory address violation / leakage !) who know's ... that is what i have experienced so far. nice to hear that it will be an ( e ) update, hope it will include fixes for those issues here.

You are indeed honest in expressing opinions having no basis in fact Basically, if there's a change in the version letter at the end, you don't pay. If there's a change in the version numeral, you pay. But it will be a while before there's a new version numeral, so enjoy the free updates in the interim.

If you haven't reported these issue to CW the chances are they won't be fixed (unless CW themselves have experiened and are aware of the issues). If you've already reported them and they were confirmed as issues, post the issue numbers (CWBRN-xxxxx) here so that CakeAlexS can add them to the first post of this thread: http://forum.cakewalk.com...comments-m2952585.aspx

I think in all fairness the number of hardware/ software combinations multiplied by user methods and peripherals it stands to reason not all can get covered in a beta but I do agree it gets fixed where an actual across the boards issue exists. I have to hand to CW that the fixes and updates have come thru quickest with X3 since I been on Sonar.

That's always the plan, actually. In simple terms, it's the bugs that crop up because of the fixes that need fixing in the next release. More succinctly: Some bugs don't show up until another part of the code is working the way it should. The second bug was somehow compensating for the first bug, hiding it, or redirecting program flow so it never executed.

I know what a rev release is vs. a version release. I know rev's are free and versions are not. I was simply responding to the implied (I may have read something into this, and I own that mistake) response from BlixYZ. Please accept my apologies.

I don't think think that your comnent is out of line at all tremojem - you make a very valid point. Way too often software developers bring out a new paid version well before they have a fully functioning old version - I seem to recall x2 still having quite a few stability problems when x3 was released! I know many people would be dissapointed if Cakewalk released x4 without fixing some outstanding bugs. We don't yet have a functioning, usable playlist for example. Thankfully, in the case of x3, they seem to be doing just that:) Great news Andrew - looking forward to x3e:)
