Hi guys,

Seeing the plugins work in Reaper encouraged me to dig deeper into Sonar, and I found the problem.

I turned of the 64-bit double precision engine option and the plugins worked fine. With the option turned on, the plugins crash. Feels a bit like deja vu when the console emulator hummed with this option on. It appears this is a Sonar bug and has me again wondering the value of this feature...

I emailed the JRR Shop and asked why they still didn't have the sale price.
It's still on sale everywhere except JRRShop.

They never replied....

Rocky,

They issue it when you buy...it's a "Certificate-Promo Code" thing...
It's to use on your next purchase from AD

PD is $99 also..and no gift card.  That makes AD a better buy IMO.

Guys, I mentioned the concern about the sale ending and this is what Slate told me:
Yeh, he may contact purchasing@stevenslate.com and quote the issue.  Alex Siegel, our purchasing guy will author him a coupon, no problem.

I doubt they can help with any of the store specific spiff such as gift cards, but if you missed the sale due to waiting for this issue they will help. I think that's pretty cool of them in my book. They also said they have reached out to the devs on this issue too.

So, thumbs up for Slate from me on this issue once I realized that the support emails were noreply and I had to use their system.

Now to play with these new toys! :)

Hello to everybody,

Thanks a lot James for the feedback !

Everyone who uses Slate VBC with Sonar X3 (version D or E) has the same problem as James experienced ?

Do those compressors make a real difference ?

Cclary : Concerning JRR Shop, I noticed they never repply to any question via their e-mail  ! Maybe, they are very busy, or overworked but it is merging on a bad image concerning customer relationship.

Back to $84.15 at JRRShop...they never responded to the email,
but the did put the price back.  It shows $199 but when you go to
the product page it shows $99 and then, when added to cart you
get the $84.15 price.  So if you want the money now and not a gift
card or rebate, this is the place to buy.

So, what's the verdict on the VBC.......is this your go-to compressor(s)? Does it make a huge (better) improvement on your tracks?

Also, do you have to turn off the 64-bit double precision engine feature (everytime) to make this work?

I use it quite a bit on my drum & other busses.  For mastering if a is comp needed I usually start with the Red.
I haven't tried it in X3c yet but with Cubase no problems with x64.

I like it better then a lot of the others...
You can get it at PluginDiscounts for $99..and then they send you $15 back...

AD gives you $15 Gift Card...so you have to spend that $15 there
JRRShop gives you only the $99 price...no discount.

http://plugindiscounts.com/home/4598-slate-digital-vbc.html

it's 3 compressors...A FC 670, an SLL 4000, and a Rednet...that can be used either individually or
in the Rack...

Thanks Larry!!
Actually, someone wanted to trade me VBC for Reaktor 5......so, kind of free!! I'm worried/reluctant that it doesn't work well with Sonar's 64 bit engine/Win8 x64.

I just traded my Slate VBC for PSP Echo. Can't wait to play with the new toy! :)

Slate VBC is a cool product if it stays stable for you. I worked with Slate, but they could not recreate my issues there even though I could easily duplicate by turning on the 24bit engine. My projects <seemed> to get a bit more stable in general when I pulled out this plug, but that is a subjective statement. Run the demo and see - if you like it and it is stable, you are probably good to go and take advantage of a nice sale.

PS: I love Slate Virtual Tape and Virtual Channel, and I'm starting to dig Slate fGX - it's just the VBC that gives me problems.
