jbow WOW... I just read the PDF. You have been some "busy beavers" at "La Bakery"! Thank you! I think that Sonar is the DAW of the future (actually of the NOW) some just don't yet realize it. I don't understand why more "pros" don't dump that expensive "protuul" software and it's insanely expensive HW and leave the dark side for good! That isn't the sun on the horizon, it is SONAR.
I'm sure the Bakers appreciate your comments I know of one person who switched from Pro Tools, but I don't think it's a common phenomenon...yet. However, the next best thing is happening: SONAR is picking up a lot of new users who might otherwise have ended up taking the Pro Tools route.

Doktor Avalanche @TimV aidanodr was on the right lines I think. This looks like a missing or corrupted library needed from the Windows base. Try installing: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/968211 (for Windows 7).
If that does not work the C++ libraries probably need upgrading, I don't know what version of C++ Platinum requires, perhaps somebody could link to it. You probably need to check windows update for updates inc optional updates as well, the optional updates may indeed contain the C++ libraries you require.
I really appreciate everyone's help. It's amazing that so many people take the time to share their knowledge and advice. What a great place this forum is. I've done an Avast bootup scan, a Malwarebytes scan and downloaded the optional Windows updates. I also tried Craig's suggestion of first turning off the anti-virus. I got rid of a lot junk, but CCC's odd behavior continues. Even though CCC shows Cambridge, it seems to have installed Dorchester. SPlat 64 bit shows version 21.3.00 Build 20 and appears to have the new features. But CCC continues to show the yellow light and the update button doesn't change to reinstall. I reinstalled the 32 bit version from the Cambridge update (from the ProgramData folder): UP2 Steup 21.2.0.21. Now it opens without the error message about missing CWVideoEngine.dll. It's a big relief, since I'm using it for part of a project I'm finishing, but it could be nice to have the new features. I thought it might be worth trying logging out and then back in. However, I got spooked when I clicked on the log out button and saw the warning: "Logging out will clear all of your settings and product information for the account are you sure you want to do this?" That seems a little severe. Is it really as serious as it sounds?

Same here. However, when one elects install both 32bit and 64bit versions, in order to get the indicator to go green both 32bit and 64bit versions must be current.

32-bit processes can co-exist however you can only use the one version of the same DLL at a time. i.e. processX32.dll or processX64.dll depending on your system would only be used. I just installed the 64-bit system because I'm simple like that.

Actually, it's been doing this from the start, after the Dorchester release (even though my Command Center still says Cambridge). I let it update everything. After that, the 32 bit version wouldn't open at all. I reinstalled the current version, but nothing changed (including the yellow light) which is why I had to install the earlier version, which does open.

NO. C3 is for 64 bit install only. You must install Sonar 32 bit manually.

Are you sure there is such an option in CCC? I don't remember being presented w/ that. AND I would add, Cake tech support told me CCC is for 64-bit install only. Of course Addictive Drums has its own installer. You have to download the installer for the installer, and the installer for the installer has both 64 bit version and 32 bit versions. Which to select? Do you match your OS? Your version of Sonar? The version of AD2 you plan to install? Unbelievable. What an incredible clusterf***k this whole business is. Solutions that don't scale are bad solutions. What if every program came w/ its own special installer to manage its bits? Now control panel is completely buggered. Instead of showing your installed software it shows you your installed installers, and you can't rely on the OS to uninstall anymore. All so that we can't choose which components we want installed or pick installation paths. That's progress!

It is not an option in C3 and I did not say it was. C3 installs 32bit SONAR on 32bit Windows and 64bit SONAR on 64bit Windows.

While you will have to determine the wisdom of updating in the middle of a project, as far as obtaining the Dorchester features, Sonar 32 bit install (on 64 bit Windows) must be managed manually, (although it seems CCC will show the status as yellow if you do not maintain it to current). So as before, go to the Cakewalk store, dl the setup from your account and run it.

I think the easiest way to add a good analyzer is to install Voxengo Span, which is free and effective (they also offer a free audio spectrum analyzer). I too would like to see some additional analysis tools in SONAR, but for now Span covers a lot of territory.

Hi all I have a slight install problem with the Dorchester update I get an error message upon install for: Bitbridge.dll (deletefile failed code 5; access is denied) and the same one for VstScan.dll I ignored them (retry did not help), but not sure if that was the right thing do Platinum seems to work ok though Any idea what is going on, or if this is serious?

Did you disable anti-virus programs during installation? Maybe bitbridge modifies the system benignly, but an anti-virus program gets nervous and blocks it.

May also want to make sure the programs are not running. Sometimes Bitbridge and VSTscan can be running in the background. If they are, the installer may not be able to overwrite them. Boot before running the installer or double check the Windows task manager if SONAR was run prior to the installer.

I see you don't have a lot of posts, I assume you're fairly new here...so here's a tip. If scook and I offer advice at the same time, try his first . There are rumors that Cakewalk generates their documentation by plugging directly into his brain and downloading.

@alfabooty you should update your audio interface drivers and firmware first. If that does not work check to see if it is plugin specific. As a last resort you can change the midi engine (consult the Dorchester documentation).

Thanks! My AI driver is up to date & I am working totally with the build-in plugins (Vsti & vst). I think the midi engine over-ride should work. (hopefully)
