[SOLVED] Hey is Fast Bounce broken in Foxboro?

I upgraded to Foxboro and had craziness when rendering wav files.  If I De-select fast bounce my renders work.  If I roll back I can render using fast bounce.

Is it just me?

Thanks!

I have a project that I'm working on...that has two medleys in the project.  Both medleys have tempo changes.  I ended up having to deselect the fast bounce in order for the tempo changes to be recognized.

This too is after updating to Foxboro.  Never had a problem with it before the update.

I've done several fast bounces in Foxboro, but not with tempo changes so can't comment on that aspect.

There are 16 songs in this project....but only two of them have tempo changes.  All others rendered out fine.  Just the two with tempo changes were faulty on render.  It was like the tempo change was not recognized...and the tempo of the midi stuff stayed the same instead of changing.

I had this problem tonight as well...fast bounce enabled and the end of the song (which has a tempo change) did not render correctly. I just did an export with fast bounce disabled and it worked fine.

Yes, I'm on Foxboro.

Glad I saw this thread because I was at a loss as to what the problem could be.

Is this affecting track freeze too? That could mean a rollback for me if so...

I had this problem with Foxboro, thought it was just me.    The bounce was crazy, all over the place tempo-wise.   Uncheck fast bounce, it worked correctly.

Just did two fast bounces in a row, exactly the same selection from the same project.   The first one came out with balance, speed, and vst output completely messed up, the second came out right.

I had an issue bouncing when I was testing the upsample option. In my case I had changed the option enabled for TruePianos. The bounce was fine. Then I turned off the upsample option and did a bounce. this time the audio was garbled.

I reset the audio engine and tried again but it was still garbled. I restarted Sonar and tried a 3rd time this time it rendered correctly. Then when I enabled the option again I had a similar experience.

I'm not sure this is related to the same problem but might be a clue. I will keep an eye on this also.

Hi all,I confirm that I have experienced the same problem. Tracks with tempo changes don't render well at all with fast bounce enabled, but are fine with it disabled.
I have also found out that for the price of a monthly sub to SPlat, I can buy Reaper 4 which is doing exactly what I need and with a lot less fuss. Also, for a reason I have yet to find out, Reaper also seems to impart a lot less noise into my tracks.
I am a user from Pro Audio 9 but I am coming to the opinion that SPlat is becoming all fancy toys and less functional.

Just poking my head up to say I disagree. Sonar is pretty hugely functional. It does have toys too. Have you discovered the record button? That's the real key to the thing.

To some, putting instruments you can't play in a tune takes the musicianship out of the performance. It is "musical" scrapbooking, if I may coin a term.. I do it for drums....we record the rest.

Not a big fan of drive-by posters who spew another program's name and then leave. For me, it just makes me like Sonar even more!

I think this poorly phrased. I would not put it like that.

However I would like to see a return to fixing and improving the meat and potatoes of Sonar (pre Platinum). If we look at the last few releases it's been more about fixing issues with the new Platinum features. I'm glad they are being fixed rather than not, don't get me wrong but I want existing functionality improved. I hope there will be less new headline features, and more exisiting workflow tweaks and fixes from next month. More streak and potatoes and less cucumber please.. Core program still needs improvement.

Replying to myself on here, re: freeze possibly not working in fast bounce mode. Confirmed, that's also screwed up with tempo changes, as is bouncing to a new track.

Ouch. Dealbreaker for me, I'm afraid. Rolling back until it's sorted. :/

Not really. True, Foxboro had bug fixes and enhancements for Drum Replacer. But it also had fixes and enhancements for ARA, Console View, Lanes, Event List, ProChannel, PRV, Staff View, and VST/3rd party compatibility. If you go back through the PDFs, you'll see this is a consistent pattern.

Craig yes I've read all the release notes otherwise I would not comment. Yes there are fixes for other stuff away from DR over the last couple of releases, but far less in numbers than releases before that. DR, upsampling and CCC clearly are taking up resources. I'm not complaining, I'm hoping for next month that we are back on track getting back to the meat and potatoes.

I'm pretty sure if Michael Hoover had $59 million in his personal account from selling Winamp to AOL in a $400 million dollar deal, SONAR would cost less as well.

Also, for a reason I have yet to find out, Reaper also seems to impart a lot less noise into my tracks.

If you record into SONAR with the interface input turned down, the only noise that shows up on a track is residual noise from the interface output. SONAR is not capable of adding noise into your tracks. What you do within SONAR is capable of adding noise to tracks.

Ok, I've done more tests.

I thought oversampling might be the culprit, and i still think it is at the root of this problem, but any project with tempo changes has crazy timing problems when rendering using fast bounce...

that is all...back to the coal mine

Thanks for your comments everyone - however, I posted an OPINION, and did not insult anyones intelligence or ability, nor did I take a cheap shot at anyones post history on the forums. For the record, I have been making and recording music since the early 80s on an Atari ST, up to today with Sonar Plat. I am a great user and believer in Sonar products and will continue to be so.

Granted I could've expressed myself more eloquently, and I don't have as amazing gear as you guys have, but I try to make the best of what I have.

I love the toys from ProChannel through to Drum Replacer, but despair at the little problems that each new release brings. The bakers are doing great jobs and Sonar continues to be my DAW of choice, but I do like to use another DAW occasionally.

Whoopsie. That's a pretty big deal. Hopefully a fix will be forthcoming.

This is why I would like to be able to download previous versions from a list in case I missed them. For example I'd like to try out Everett, neglected to download it in time so I either stay on Dorchester or dl Foxboro which, based on these reports, has a pretty nasty bug.

I'm sure Foxboro will be fixed but still would like to have all versions of the subscription period available for download perpetually. Now I can't access the Drum Replacer or other newer stuff without snagging this problem as well.
