I believe "fully tested" means in the context of what Microsoft requires to be considered compatible with Windows 10.

All I know is I installed windows 10 and Sonar Platinum is working perfectly with it on my machine. I'm glad to see that Cakewalk is right on top of things with the W10 compliance factor....good job !!

I had the same problem, so I clicked on the Gear and somehow my 32-bit and 64-bit VSTplugins folders got changed to the same. I corrected that and then it found the new updates. Thanks to the person who suggested that.

What hardware was this version tested on? "fully tested" is a bit bold with all due respect.

It's Windows 10 certified... so draw your own conclusions on the basis of this (plus no doubt the usual QA cycles within Cakewalk, whatever that is):

So does the new Project Template improvements mean that if I want to test something without saving the project that I do not have to name it, and hence it won't be saved as empty project folders named(by me) creatively as "sdfg" and "ertrt" which I then have to delete?

Sure looks that way. Just remember to clear the audio data out of your global folder periodically. (I only use per-project folders, so anything is the global audio folder can be deleted.)

Several users are effected by this. There's a bug in the CCC we await an update.
In the meantime go into settings and check for updates.
If that does not work log out/in.

Windows 10 and Sonar Plat = Fantastic combo. Thanks for this awesome update Cake. Loving the experience so far. Things just feel smoother and somewhat faster to me. Definitely very stable. One thing though and this might be a little premature. Latency while not a problem doesn't seem to be any different than it was in Win 7. Are there any settings I need to be aware of in order to see a difference? Like I said it's not a problem. My current settings are 64 samples/1.5ms. It's just that I'm always looking to make things better and get the most out of my gear.

Thanks!
I really appreciate your focus on the core performance and "issues" (as you call them) in this Sonar update.  The improvement in the Template page is quite useful, however, the improvements around fixing known issues are the most important to many of us (although probably the least exciting to your Marketing Dept.).

Cheers,

I must be lucky!  I logged off then logged on and upgraded on the first attempt.

The reason people say the vinyl sounds better is because the music was better.

I believe you won't notice an improvement with latency if you're using ASIO, it's already talking to the system on a low level. The improvement will be with the standard Windows drivers.

To clarify, the improvements are that you can run slightly heavier loads at low latency than Win 10. You won't get lower latency itself. If you are using ASIO the difference may be more subtle. See our benchmarks on the Cakewalk blog for more info. This third party benchmark from PC Audio Labs is also useful.

Hmmm....I updated from Windows 7 to 10 this morning.  Just updated to Gloucester just a moment ago and now Sonar stops on the splash screen and I get the message sonarplt.exe has stopped.  Thoughts?

Just did a reinstall and the same thing...

Above is your problem. This is a windows system file.
First thing I would do is reinstall your audio driver (latest firmware + driver), and if no joy reinstall Sonar.

No dice? Then dump this thread and jump onto this thread with your system specs:

Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AVRT.dll

Above is your problem. This is a windows system file.
First thing I would do is reinstall your audio driver (latest firmware + driver), and if no joy reinstall Sonar.

No dice? Then dump this thread and jump onto this thread with your system specs:

You are the MAN!  Updated the RME to the most recent driver and it fired right up.

Thanks!
