BrandoThe idea that people who use and like SONAR have to be overtly sensitive to others who come to the forum and behave like jackasses (,oh, no did he say..... that?????) is ridiculous.

this is the point i was trying to make

maybe the hosts could be more pro-active keeping the forum decorum

Base 57 And I would bet a lifetime subscription that SONAR will never integrate Revoice as long as it requires ILok.

cough *softube* cough

True, however whilst Softube do require the use of iLok they do not require a USB dongle.

From the little research I just did the software from SyncroArts, Vocalign and Revoice Pro both require iLok with a USB dongle.

is it not that any ilok-protected software can now be either dongled or not? still, dongle regardless, it requires the intrusive driver-like software to be installed, dongle or no... forget not the hoo-har from 2 or 3 years ago... (regarding ilok, not sonar)

still, the point was that ilok requirement wouldn't prevent it happening, as that milestone is already passed - indeed, now there is the command center... we are a million miles away from the simple serial/registration combo that sonar used to use :-(

I have been making a concerted effort lately to make sure my harmony vocal tracks are sung properly before using the take. As opposed to just "fixing" everything because I have the tools. I like to take the song line by line - listen closely and rehearse each line for matching then record until I get a nice matching take. I'll even normalize phrases as necessary during this process (in the lead and harmony parts) so that volumes are consistent and minimizing compression needs. Sometimes the best tool for the job is doing it right when you're doing it. Sure, I buy band-aids but I try to avoid using them! And how good of a band-aid should I buy?????  If you are accident prone you might oughta stock up on some hefty band-aids...

You are not wrong Paul the difference is you do not have to have a hardware device plugged in for Softube but these and certain other iLok secured plugs will not allow for just the software iLok.  The only real advantage I can see from the dongle is your software becomes portable but yet another physical device that can fail.

That sounds good, but doesn't do much for someone who may be dealing with vocals that were sent to them that they didn't record.

Yes,of course,i've bought Revoice (and Vocalign before) not like the guys that don't know what they are talking about...

You might want to visit your 2nd post in this thread. Someone replied nicely that you might take a look at vocalsync. That's it. Your reply was really crappy. So please refrain from blaming other for your abrupt harsh reply to a simple suggestion meant to alert you to something you might not have known about that the poster thought might help.
