I tried uninstalling, rebooting the machine, and reinstalling. Still in Demo Mode. Until they resolve this, I'll continue to use Sonar Platinum.

For whatever its worth, I had demo mode hit me today. found this thread, followed the uninstall/install process and things are working fine again. I am/was a SPLAT 4 life user. Installed Cakewalk by BandLab Friday 4/13. Used it quite a bit on Saturday with no issues. However, I did run CCleaner late yesterday (maybe it removed some sort of Cookie or Auth file?). We also had a power outage this AM so maybe a new IP tossed a wrench into the works? Probably more likely the first one.

Yeah, I’ve tried everything and no luck. Got it up and running on my backup computer, but can’t get Bandlab to even download Cakewalk on my main computer. Just shuts off a few seconds after the process starts. Tried moving things over from my backup computer, and all I get is the dreaded demo mode. Have tried all solutions in this thread, to no avail. Opened up a support ticket, which also has not helped.

Are there any news from the developers to fix the problem? On one of the computers - home everything was installed without problems. On the other - SPLAT and Command Center works, has a connection to the account, but the BandLab application gives a password and login error, although they did not change.

Installed every which way but mainly logged in with assistant running and through the App tab. The end result is Demo, Demo, Demo. Annoyed and frustrated. Wasted an afternoon that I'll never get back as long as I live. Back to Ableton. Like Apple it just works.

Aaaand it has gone to "Please login to Bandlab Assistant to update activation status." Of course, doing as it asks doesn't help. If it helps anyone debug, this came up after CbB crashed (dodgy plugin) having installed CbB with the Bandlab Assistant 3.0.6 a couple of weeks ago. CbB is build 13 [2018.04] x64. I'll have to reinstall AGAIN (4th time!) to finish this project, but I think I'll have to go back to Mixbus. My internet connection isn't good enough to be downloading ~1GB every few uses.

Just ran into this issue this morning. Demo mode message with no viable option to fix. From what I'm reading in this thread is that the only way to fix this is to uninstall and reinstall the software? Really? This whole thing is scaring the hell out of me. I have years of projects that rely on a working version of Sonar (Cakewalk). I don't want to get invested in this version only to have it go titsup or worse, they decide to start charging a subscription. Maybe I'll just stick with my version of X3 until the dust settles... if it does.

I've now updated BA to 3.0.8 and CbB to 21.04.1 build 28. It created new duplicate shortcuts on the desktop. CbB is still in demo mode (of course).

CbB crashed again, another incompatible VST (I think?), and we're back to demo mode for the 5th time. Installed the Assistant v3.0.8, reinstalled CbB, it now says "Free" instead of being a membership product. "At last! I'm free of re-installation hell!" I thought. Silly me, next time I started it I was straight back to demo mode.

you could try running a tool like fiddler to see if something in the "phone home" call isn't happening, or fails, for some obscure reason?

Is reinstalling twice mandatory? Because thats silly. I installed first time via the bandlab app. Then it went into demo mode and I dont know wtf. Will uninstall again, but this is pretty cooked. I'm gonna go ahead and assume this bandlab app hasn't quite been through the QA cycle yet :/
Maybe best not label this beta yet folks. Sonar users might think its ready.

Thank you for fixing! BL Assistant 3.10 and 2018.05 (Build 19) did it! Simply followed the update instruction from BL Assistant 3.09. The software did the rest.

Been away from recording for months and when I fired up cakewalk again today I heard the "news". Regardless, I started yet another account with a social media site, downloaded and installed CWbB through BLA aaaaaaand.... you guessed it. Demo mode. I guess I can be blamed for not deactivating firewall or running BLA in administrator mode or something. My point is, I followed instructions from BL explicitly and the problem still exists. I'm also curious why someone programmed a message to appear as a notification to activate via BLA when this clearly isn't the solution.

This is really off-putting! Having been a Cakewalk Sonar user for 10+ years I was happy to see that the program was picked up and that there actually seems to be periodical releases again. But after installing it through the BandLab Assistent app only to end up in demo mode limbo with save disabled, a "Please activate via BandLab Assistant"-message and a "Learn more"-link to this unhelpful page: help.cakewalk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002692134 This experience really makes me consider moving on to another DAW instead.

It might be useful to know what OS, BandLab Assistant and CbB version this post is about. Have you tried logging out of BA and back in?

I am having the same problem after months of use with no issues- I have done all my installing and uninstalling via the bandlab app and I am logged in correctly to bandlab but I can’t get out of demo mode. It might be a coincidence but I installed the hotfix today ( everything was fine yesterday) I am running win 10 and the latest cakewalk version....

Providing detailed OS, BA and CbB version info may be helpful. Assuming logging out/in with BA does not activate CbB - after uninstalling CbB make sure to delete "C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core" before reinstalling.

If anyone ran into this issue please log out of BandLab Assistant then fully exit the application from the menu (not by clicking the x). Then start it up again and log in. After that the app should be activated. Sorry for any inconvenience. There was a temporary back end problem that has been resolved that affected new activations only.

I quote : "If anyone ran into this issue please log out of BandLab Assistant then fully exit the application from the menu (not by clicking the x). Then start it up again and log in. After that the app should be activated." => "log out of BandLab Assistant" : how, where ? => "fully exit the application from the menu" : I'm guessing "the application" means Cakewalk, but which menu? => "Then start it up again" : what is "it" here? Bandlab Assistant or Cakewalk? This activation thing is making it so complicated, where everything used to be so simple... Erick
